Don't waste your time!

We just recieved this and I'm leaving this review after one evening, a frustrating experience, and we still don't have a completed piece. To start with the air dry clay gets a ton of air bubbles in it as you roll it. Didn't matter how much I kneaded it beforehand, got air bubbles everytime. Second, because of having to roll and re-roll it a bunch of times to get bubbles out, my daughter lost interest. When I finally got the clay at a point where I could live with an air bubble or two, we found that the impression the hand makes is very light and not at all like the picture. Try straightening a baby hand out and mashing into clay - you only get a few seconds of cooperation so when the impression material is too soft, you end up with a crappy impression. I rolled the clay up and thought I'd try again. The second time, I noticed some little pieces of lint or something in the clay. I'm guessing this is from having to handle it so much to get air bubbles out. Once I rectified that situation and started rolling ONCE again - my daughter and I were both so over it. I think the impression material is wrong for this application. I've worked with clay before and this air dry type is a bit light and too soft. I may try again with a different brand, as I have some left over from a project. But who knows. I may pack this up and send it back. It's not a successful product if after 45 minutes all I have is frustration and crappy clay. And we didn't even get to the second package of clay to make a foot print. I agree with the one reviewer who said that the ink route would be better. Thus far this product is an EPIC FAIL.

Works; Just Not as Impressive

I was hesitant because of the mixed reviews, but decided to purchase any way. I figured most of the errors were from lack of patience or improper handling. The product works well and the imprints initially look great! If you mess it up, it's easy to re-roll and try again. Unfortunately, the clay takes longer to dry than expected and there is quite a bit of shrinkage. My imprints weren't firm until 72-90 hours later. I probably could've mounted them sooner, but upon picking them up 48 hours later, there was still quite a bit of flex. The shrinkage was the most disappointing part. When it shrunk, the depth of the imprints was reduced dramatically. Additionally, the edges of the clay (where is was originally trimmed) pulled in, distorting the imprints even further. Long story short, knowing what I know now, I could probably do it better...but you'd expect the product to work as expected after reading and following the instructions.

Such a perfect gift.

So easy to use comes with everything you need. Tried it with my 6 month old and it was hard to get a good print because hes so little but if he was bigger im sure it wouldve worked even better. His grandma loved it!

Great, but weird impression material

This frame is fairly large, with room for a 4x6 print and a mat. It's fairly sturdy and has glass plates and not plastic. I have this a 4 instead of a 5 because the material is a bit weird. It's lightweight and easily shaped, but it doesn't seem to fully harden (after 4 days now) and so it's gotten a few blemishes while I waited for it to dry. I like it a lot better than a clay version I had bought previously though. It imprinted easily after kneading it. Overall it looks beautiful.

Way better than ink!

This is beautiful and so precious! Clay imprints work way better than trying to get ink prints of your squirmy little one because it's not as easy to smudge. (We tried the other and eventually gave up...). It looks very professional and we get nonstop compliments from our friends and family. With a little creativity you can hang it on the wall like I did (not made to be hung), or you can stand upright. Catches the eye either way and the shadow boxes on either side have a cool effect.

Very Cute and easy to use.

We got this Babyprints Deluxe Desk Frame when our baby was born and it was delivered really fast. The material you use for the prints is really light and easy to use in my opinion. It looks really cute now that it is set but the print material sometimes doesn't stick to the sticker in the frame. Other than that its really cute and if we have another baby I will be buying this again. We had a girl so the background color can be changed from blue to pink. I will be buying this again.

love this frame!

I absolutely love this! Roll the dough out and it softens up pretty nicely. You can retry as many times as you need to, to get it exactly as you want it to be. I had a hard time getting the squares so I used a can and made circles around one hand and one foot and that turned out really nice. Allow enough time for it to dry well before trying to stick it in the frame as you have to use a bit of pressure to get the tape to stick to both the molding clay and the cardboard backing.

Great Product, easy print kit, high-quality from!

Fantastic Kit!!! Funnily enough bought it for my two little doggie's paw prints to give to my mum as a mother's day gift. Frame is very high quality (and bigger than I expected - has a nice presence!). Kit is extremely simple to use, just currently air drying my prints for the 48 hours stated, then printing a picture of the furbabies for the middle picture! Great product!!! Would definitely recommend - takes the mess and complication out of creating prints!

Brilliant kit!

The kit is simple to use and you'd have to be daft to mess it up. I've got 3 sets to do them for the grandmothers as well. Usually have a little bit spare if you want to have a play with another hand. Word to the wise though, it's not clay!! Do not expect it to set as hard, its rubber moulding. It sets to a firm rubber mould. That worked well in my favour as I had to post a complete set, and didn't have to panic about the mould breaking in transit. Great kit!!

Lo compré para tener las impresiones de mano y pies de mi bebé. La masa es moldeable así que la pudimos usar varias veces antes de obtener la impresión final, eso sí, tardó más tiempo en endurecerse y nunca quedó completamente rígida, pero la pudimos pegar sobre el fondo sin ningún problema.

sehr schlechte Qualität

Bin sehr enttäuscht. So eine schlechte Qualität kann man gar nicht vorstellen. Ich habe den Rahmen noch ein zweites mal bestellt, mit der Hoffnung, dass ich bei der ersten Bestellung einfach Pech gehabt habe und bei der nächsten kommt eine unbeschädigte Wäre an. Es war aber noch schlimmer. So ein Schrott würde ich auch kostenlos nicht haben wollen, besonders wenn man es als eine Erinnerung an Babys ersten Tagen haben möchte.
