Always have liked this filter over others

These are good filters because they don't make a huge current from the return because of the extra bio falls part. They are decently large inside for custom media and simple and quick to clean. The 300 fits over a 75 gallon aquarium frame aqueon tank with no problem. 300 gallons an hour . Have used many filters and prefer these over the aquaclears. Yes the aquaclear 110 does more gallons per hour and fits over a 75 but the motors get loud and don't last as long as the cascades and both have large space for custom media and aquaclears are double the price. So for the money,quiet motor, amount of custom space, gentle water return, and long lasting its a no brainier. And when you have multiple aquariums of different sizes and species like me those are the things that are important to find. 5 ⭐ stars

Works great--until it doesn't

I've owned (and/or returned) this product at least 4 times in the past couple years (yeah--I guess I'm kind of a slow learner). It's easy to put together and run, it's quiet, and it works great--for maybe 6-10 months, at which time either a) the motor will no longer run, or b) the motor runs, but the water won't flow properly. I've fiddled with the flow controller knob, to no avail. The latest one I purchased seems to be working fine--for now.

Short lived

Works great until you have to clean it, its hard to connect the bottom motor to the suction tube, it's hard to connect, it shuts off, and its extremely loud.
