Pentair Pentek GAC Series Cartridges effectively reduce unwanted tastes and odors, including chlorine taste & odor from your drinking water. They are designed to allow maximum contact between the water and carbon, ensuring optimal adsorption. The construction of the cartridge allows water to enter at one end and pass through the entire length of the carbon bed before exiting the other end of the cartridge, while an internal expansion pad minimizes channeling or bypass. Before the water exits the cartridge, a post-filter helps reduce carbon fines and other suspended particles from the filtered water. The post-filter is permanently fastened to an innovative support basket ensuring that it is firmly se d and eliminating any potential for bypass. GAC Series Cartridges are available in a variety of sizes and flow rates, and effectively provide good general-purpose drinking water filtration.

25,000 GALLON CAPACITY. Replace every six months or when you notice a drop in water pressure or water quality. NSF INTERNATIONAL tested and certified for your peace of mind. POST-FILTER HELPS REDUCE CARBON FINES and other suspended particles from the filtered water. FITS ALL 20" Pentair Pentek Big Blue or other 20" heavy duty housings and can replace any 20" x 4.5" carbon filter cartridge. Removed well smells
we had an iron and slight sulfur smell from out brand new well.. it wasn't going away with a standard 10 micron filter (or would it) so we upgraded to the GAC filters. Much better....

If they only last a few weeks, consider them junk,,seconds or something
I bought two of these, the first one lasted a measly 3 weeks, in the past I’ve bought these from a plumber and gotten at least 8 months out of them before my water smelled again of rotten eggs. I’ll try the second one and see what happens, Amazon must be passing seconds along?? The price was good, but not if they last 3 weeks, totally surprised by how long they lasted and discouraged My mistake, found out my anode rod in my Hybrid water heater is the cause my apologies to Amazon

The clear wrapping was torn and filter was exposed
I ordered two filters and both arrived loosely free to move in the box. The clear wrapping on each filter was torn off of the end and the filter was exposed to contamination.

Exploded!
Two weeks ago I had to call off work because at 5am when I got up, I found my 3 part water filter gushing water all over my garage turned into a gym. Took 12 hours to vacuum all the water up and dry the house (water went into 3 rooms). Turns out one of the housing cracked at the top. Not the bottle that holds the filter, but the top part, the black bottle holder. Fortunately, I built a bypass so I've been on city water. Now two weeks later I finally have time to replace the broken parts and when I took the bottle off, I discovered the culprit - THIS FILTER! It cracked down the side releasing all the carbon bits, expanding the bottle and bottle holder beyond their capability. Coincidentally, I bought this same filter last year and it only made it a few months. That time it junked-up everything with carbon. I took it out and just the empty bottle. I figured it was a fluke and tried again. So now that's over 100 dollars on this absolute garbage filter!

Easy to install
Very easy to install. If you are on a well, replace every 6 months. Build up in filter will impact water pressure

Water tastes great and radon reduced from 4.9 to 2.5
I recently moved into a newly constructed home. I had mild to moderate sediment and a water radon level of 4.9. I installed a Big Blue 10 with a sediment filter (DGD-5005) and a Big Blue 20 with a GAC filter (GAC 20BB). The sediment immediately cleared up. I had my water radon tested six weeks later and the result was 2.5. My water tastes great and I saved a lot of money bringing my water radon level down this way rather than having it professionally mitigated. My total cost was less than $200; plumber friend did the install for free.

BAD Filter
This filter is crap! All of the carbon particles leaked out into our water system in spite of the so-called secondary filter layer to prevent this. Had to flush entire system, hot water tank, toilet tanks and so on to get all of the carbon sediment out before installing new filters.
