Hook your wires up correctly!!!
I see a lot of reviews stating that the Yard Max feature does not work. You hooked your wires up incorrectly to the surge protector. PLEASE READ When I first installed I couldn’t figure out why everything worked fine on mode B- Regular mode and would not work on mode A- Yard Max Mode. If you are running into this issue you need to swap the left and right “loop” wires going into the surge protector. What happens when they are reversed is the fence will function backwards meaning the “safe zone” is now the “correction area” and visa versa. Once I figured this out it worked like a dream! Swapped those two wires going into the surge protector and viola! The Yard Max function is a must for my dog as he will bolt through the fence so quick that it won’t even set it off on the normal mode. The yard max feature is worth the extra money if you set it up correctly, it provides a constant correction until your pup returns over the boundary line. I hated that I had to buy this fence but the alternative was for my dog to get hit by a car. He would run into the road 3-4 times a week before buying. Now he stays within the yard and is much happier because he can chill outside unattended! 5/5 for working as advertised 4/5 for unclear instructions on troubleshooting- I had to look up some YouTube videos in order to figure out what went wrong. Follow this and you will have good success!!! I have a 40 pound dog and use static correction level 3, seems to be enough to annoy him but not enough to make him yelp or feel any sort of pain. I tested it on myself at level 6 and that was way too much! Keep it at a 3-4 for this size dog

Could be so much easier with better test equipment to assure proper set up
The kit is easy more or less to work with. The light” stick” they send to be able To see when the dog would be corrected isn’t really a stick it’s a little plastic disk that u hold against the electrodes on the collar to see when the electrodes activate. All in all it makes for a very painful installation to have to bend over to get down to 18” above the ground to see if the collar is being activated. Otherwise the installation was straight forward except for the polarity or the wire installation at the terminal. It is easy to set up the wires “backwards” so the dog is getting shocked in the yard as opposed to outside of the fence system. Combine that with the difficulty in visually seeing when the collar activates and the fact the tone is very quiet making it difficult for my husband or I to hear it it makes the job more difficult than it has to be. Working with customer service was great. We just wish they had a more accessible way of testing the wires to assure there isn’t a break in the line and to assure the wires are set up to shock outside the fence not within and to be able to know whether the collar is being activated. Honestly the best way we found to test the wires was to just allow ourselves to be shocked.
