Pet ramps need to be supported when used to allow pets to get in/out of the back seat of a vehicle. When you think about it, normally only one corner of a ramp will rest on the back seat while the other corner dances in the air, causing the ramp to be unstable and tip. The PetSTEP Side Entry Support Strap is the answer to this problem. This handy accessory makes it possible for you to use the PetSTEP Folding Pet Ramps (ramps sold separately) in the side doors of your vehicle. The strap is made of heavy duty nylon with a fully adjustable cam buckle clip. One end has a sturdy steel hook which attaches directly on the top of the PetSTEP ramp. The other end has a door hook that is hung on the door frame. This door hook is rubber coated steel so it is strong and won't slip or mar the car's finish. The strap attaches quickly and easily in seconds without any tools stabilizing the ramp and providing the much needed support so that it will not tip. For use with only PetSTEP Folding Ramps- (Item# 222K Khaki/Beige B00006OALW and Item# 222G Graphite/Gray B001AR7YII)

Does its job
This has a wide rubberized hook that fits nicely over there top of my car door without doing any damage. And the strap is adjustable in length. I have a three-legged greyhound, and this strap and the ramp that it fits work great together to help her get into and out of the car. I just wish this came with the ramp I bought, instead of being sold separately.

really sturdy and gentle on the car
I have an older dog with back problems and she really hates to be lifted into or out of the car. I bought the petstep and she loved it. I just couldn't get the step to go to the back seat. I could only use it on the back bumper of the SUV until I ordered this device. It allows you to rest one corner of the petstep on the seat and the other corner is suspended from the door. I thought it wouldn't be as stable and would scare her but it was very stable and secure. She has no issues getting in and out of the car with the ramp. This was a great purchase. It also comes with a little storage pouch. I keep it in the pouch in the pocket of my back door.

Sturdy but not necessary
The idea behind the strap is sound, but will only work for the front door on my 2016 Outback. Not even necessary for the rear trunk hatch. I will probably return the product.

I never used but like the idea. Test your ramp first.
I'm glad they make an item for using a ramp with a car. Brilliant idea for car owners with older dogs. I ordered the ramp and the strap at the same time since I thought the strap would be needed. To my surprise the ramp actually worked with my car so I didn't need the strap. When shortly thereafter I bought a new car, the ramp didn't work with the door of the new car. However, I didn't need the strap because the new car was a hatchback and I could load the dog with the ramp from the rear bypassing the door altogether. The morale of the story is to try the ramp first - maybe you won't need the strap.

Securing strap
The product doesn’t stay in the hole of the ramp very well.

Useful but not necessary for smaller dogs.
I found that with my 66 lb. dog I don't really need this to get him into my car: he goes into the back seat of a 2010 Subaru Forester, and the ramp just needs a little stabilizing to be used without the support. If you had a really big dog and some other vehicle you might need it.

Needs Instructions.
Worked great once I figured out how it works. Zero instructions provided so beware of that. I adjusted the strap to make both sides of the ramp stable and bam puppy went straight up it.

Produce it well made, but my dogs are scared ...
Produce it well made, but my dogs are scared of going up the ramp, so won't go it. So much for making it easier for my old lab to get into and out of my pickup.
