FINE-TUNE YOUR AUDIO The switches and gain settings are located behind a watertight plug, which also lights up when the amplifier is on. Customize your audio settings and make it sound just the way you want. Make adjustments to: * Input Level: Set the input sensitivity of the amp. If you are connecting to a LINE level source (typically an RCA type connection) then the switch should be in the LINE (out) position. When connecting to loudspeaker outputs, headphone, or high level sources then set the switch to the SPEAKER position. * Polarity: This switch allows the user to optimize bass performance in the case that there are more than 1 set of loudspeakers producing bass in the system. Play some music with strong bass content and listen with the switch alternately in the NORMAL and REVERSE position until it can be determined which settings results in more pleasing bass response. * Gain Control: Adjusts the overall level of the amplifier. When using the amp without volume control, the level should be set to achieve a balance with other loudspeakers in the system. As a rule, you should keep the gain settings as low as possible while still ensuring that the system will reach its full output power. * Volume Control: Plug for the waterproof remote volume control. When installed, this control will power off the amp when turned all the way down * RCA Stereo Input: Connect external audio devices like an iPod or just about any other MP3 player. Small, compact amplifier that delivers decent results.

I bought this amplifier to use in a compact stereo cooler setup. It is a compact amplifier with rough dimensions of 10"x6"x4" which basically fits in your hand. Along with the amp and its wiring you also get a waterproof pouch with a stereo connection, and a 3.5mm to RCA cable. Everything you need (aside from a battery and audio source) is here. There is also an extra 10a fuse. I used this amplifier to power two Pyle 6x9 speakers and it worked fine. I did blow both 10a fuses wiring the unit up initially. I would pull the fuse before wiring this amp up. I used this as my "on/off" mechanism since I was in a time crunch to build this stereo and didn't have the connectors I needed for a real on-off switch. I found the input dial didn't really do much. The low setting was basically no sound/very faint, there was a sweet spot where you had a low volume, and everything else was full volume. I also pulled the plastic cap off the side of the amp and turned the volume up all the way on that as well with a screwdriver. In terms of volume I didn't find this amp to be overly loud. I had both speakers in a canoe will all the settings at max and could still hear everyone else in the canoe if they spoke up a little. I haven't tried a different speaker pair to see if the 6x9s were maybe too much speaker for the amp. I'm happy with the result and I'd buy this amplifier again for a project where I didn't have a stereo/headunit and needed something to provide reasonably loud sound.

Truly awful

I figured I'd save a few bucks and use this in a car where I don't care that much about sound quality, but I didn't imagine it could possibly be THIS BAD. I have no ground loop issues, source and amp are in the same ground and same supply. I've tried three different sources. In every case the amp produces a whine whenever the volume level is low, no combination of the switches or gain avoids it. At louder volumes things don't get much better. The frequency response is pretty horrible across the board. Spend $5-15 more and get a Taramps or Setsom instead. This is a giant waste of time if you care even a little about sound quality.

Great for the money

I usually don't write reviews but I wanted to quickly write on this amp I installed in my 18' center console boat. The amp is very small and I have it paired with Polk Audio 6 X9 3 way marine speakers. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000P0R6KW/ref=oh_details_o02_s00_i00 It sounds amazing in the Helm and I love not having a head unit and just plugging in my iphone via head phone jack or anyone else's media player. The volume control on the amp is not a great potentiamoter, meaning as you turn it down it gets low, but at about 85% max audio to 100% max audio there is no difference in sound. Other than that a solid 4 stars. Update: 2014-04-21 well after about a year, the potentiometer in the volume knob is not doing it's job well. You can't really turn down the music to a low level without the music cutting off completely. And turning it up seems to push to much power to the speakers and I know I have everything paired up perfectly. Also replaced the line in with a different brand and that seems to fix any crackling that was there. Still a 4 star because of the price. I'm contacting Pyle currently to replace the volume knob.

smallest & least expensive amp and it sounds great

Easy to install. I gauged out the wiring, 12 AWG for remote and speakers 8 AWG for power and ground. Sounds clear and powerful. I would recommend this product to anyone that needs an amplifier that punches well above it's size.

Picks up too much noise to be useful in a car audio application.

I bought this amplifier to power up the rear door speakers in my car after I decided to run active and use my 4 channel amplifier to power the front mids and tweeters. It works and provides decent sound and has plenty of power for factory GM 6.5 speakers, but there is a constant hiss coming through the speakers when nothing is playing through it. It's getting the same signal, power and ground as my Alpine amp for the front speakers that doesn't have any apparent noise issues so that just makes me think that this isn't the quietest amp out there and will pick up more noise than most car audio amplifiers. If you install it in a car you may not be entirely happy with it's performance in that regard.

Really nice, I bought one of these for a stereo project. Powers 2 6 inch speakers no problem. Be aware, it does not vent heat that well so it does get warm. It says "waterproof" but It isn't really. I actually purchased the PLMRKT2A kit that comes with the speakers as well, the speakers are marine proof.

Worked great for one trip then stopped working altogether. I guess you get what you pay for. I was about a week past the return deadline for amazon, so it goes in the garbage. Put your money towards a better item.

Un bon ampli étanche

Il ne lui manque que des leds vertes et rouges pour indiquer s'il marche correctement ou s'il y a un incident. Cela rend le circuit difficile à dépanner, par rapport aux amplis non étanches. Jusqu'à ce que je grille un haut parleur j'en étais satisfait, mais ça c'est pas sa faute.
