Arrived with box in poor shape
This is a nice musical instrument that kids can assemble themselves. It arrived with the box busted which was a bummer as it was a birthday gift. For the price, I think there are better options out there for instruments kids might play with more/for longer.

2 year old loves it
I have only ever seen little kids playing with the saxo flute. Like really little kids... 2yo. I'm sure they still play with it when they are the recommended age but I just don't want people to miss out on seeing a two year old try to figure out how to get it to toot. I bought two of these for the two 2 year olds I knew in 2022 This is a great toy for creative tiny humans.

Noisy but kids love it
Gave this to our two year old for Christmas. He loves it, but it gives adults a headache after a while...

Sound can be shrill
Be warned, this is essentially a fancy whistle. We purchased it for my son's 4th birthday, and I don't know why, but I was expecting a different tone to be produced, maybe more similar to a kazoo. All our kids are loving it, but it was almost immediately deemed an "outside" or "in your room with the door closed" toy by the parents. The children are enjoying putting together the different pieces in whatever combination they can think of, but tend to make only shrill whistling sounds with it. Other tones can be produced with some coaching and instruction, but just take that under advisement if you're looking for something with a more pleasant/tolerable sound in general. Otherwise, it seems durable and a good buy.

Great gift!
We bought this for our preschooler. Yes I know we sounds insaine. It is loud but she enjoys building new creations with it and seeing what different sounds it can make.

I love- brother hates
So I bought this as a gift for my niece (4 at the time). When I was a little kid, a friend had something similar and we played with it for HOURS. I thought this was a great toy - science and music all in one. You can put it together in different ways and it makes different sounds. So a win for an engaging fun toy. Now I feel inclined to give my brother's side of the story. Shortly after giving this great toy that my niece and nephew loved, my brother posted on Facebook this "Sometimes its wonderful that my sister lives nearby and can be such a big part of their life, and sometimes she drops off a bag of whistles and leaves." To be fair, they are not a bag of whistles, but there are TWO mouth pieces. And the sounds the mouthpieces make are sort of horrible to the ear in the absence of the other tubing. Of course, I don't have to listen to it non -stop, so I still think it is a great toy. Just be aware that it is loud and can get annoying - particularly when they realize how much louder it is without the tubing on it.

Almost perfect, but not quite a Crazy Combo Horn
So back in the day, Fisher Price made a Crazy Combo Horn. A very similar interchangeable toy to this one. Crazy combo horn has a "side trombone", a kazoo, a recorder, etc. All interchangeable. It is fun and keeps kids very nicely entertained in a creative way. It is such a fun toy we have TWO. A minor issue with the older combo horns - the plastic mouthpieces get a little brittle and chip a bit as they get older. I was hoping the saxoflute would be a modern replacement for the combo horn. I was really prepared to love it. Sadly, it does not quite have the amazing kid-magnet qualities of the crazy combo horn. The problem is how the finger holes are arranged - Combo horn has a "recorder" section with 7 finger holes... allowing kids to play tunes and experiment with length of musical instrument. Saxoflute has 4 small green sections with 1 finger hole each. Music wise, the Crazy Combo Horn wins hands down. In case you are wondering, Crazy Combo Horn and Saxoflute are not compatible. I was really really hoping they would be. The inner diameter of one Crazy Combo Horn joint does fit on the outter diameter of the Saxoflute, but not in a may that makes anything useful. If you want to combine the two to make an enormous awesome musical creation, bring your teflon tape.

Fun and entertaining
The other reviews are correct - some of the joins are very loose but this hasn't dampened the enjoyment of my two boys, 2 and 4. There are endless ways of putting the various tubes together. Not many of them really make a great deal of difference to the notes produced as the pitch is mostly determined by the distance to the first opening, but that doesn't seem to bother our noise-makers. While there are special pieces with finger holes you can't play a tune on it. Our eldest is just beginning to discover that if he makes a long tube with no openings then he can play low notes by blowing very gently and a variety of higher (and louder) notes by blowing progressively harder - his first physics lesson!

Fun, but a bit wobbly
I bought this for my girls, and the concept is a great one and there are so many bits that they can both create a flute at the same time. My only gripe is that it tends to fall apart as the joints between the pieces are too lose which can be very frustrating. On this basis, I wouldn't recommend, sorry.

Not good - it falls apart when lifted
Fast delivery. One green piece looks like it's melted in manufacturing. Some pieces don't fit snugly so it falls apart when lifted up.

Super annoying gift, ideal for friends with small kids
Birthday gift for a 3 year old - excellent! Within a day it had been banished from the house. Children love it. Parents hate it. Ideal present for other friends children.
