Something To Think About When You Need A Replacement Blade!
I purchased the cutter to install air springs on my pickup. They seem to be the usual Rigid quality which is usually very good! They are easy to use and cut the airline effortlessly. When (and if) the blade dulls, do yourself a favor and spend the extra $1.50 and simply purchase a new tool. The replacement blade is a dollar and a half cheaper than the new tool! And, you don't have to take the tool apart. It seems preposterous that a replacement blade costs nearly what the new tool costs!

Use Everyday On The job .
I work at a plastics factory and use these on a daily basis . The short answer is they are worth 20$ . The screw will constantly back out unless you put some thread lock on them . The latch that holds the blade down will break in less than a week . So you will be stuck with a open blade in your tool box . The blade is low quality steal and requires sharpening at least once a month .

Cheap dollar store clip for handles!!!!
What happened to RIDGID ? Needs a sturdy clamp on end to hold handles shut when not using. Comes open in tool bag, will cut yourself. Also bought new RIDGID CS6x camera system for almost $10,000 dollars .RIDGID gives you 1 battery instead of 2 . Executives at RIDGID making millions and making cuts to quality of products.

Best PEX cutters right now
I've been professionally installing PEX tubing since 1996, and this is by far the best *type* of cutter for that job. I always take the annoying closure off and grind away a bit of one handle to allow easier one handed opening, but, still. It's a great quality tool for its intended purpose ( not for PVC!) and the blade is a bit better than others of similar design I've used over the years. Keep them sharp, give a little twist to start the cut, and even a daily use pro is going to get a few years' good service out of a pair of these. And yes; they will do just fine on 1.5" sink drain tubular PP, but as anyone who cuts that stuff knows, it takes some twisting, and there will be a burred edge. Unavoidable. Buy a good ratchet cutter for your PVC/ CPVC duties ( these will suffice on 1/2" cpvc), and use these for PEX, rubber hose, etc.

OK
Works great on PEX tubing. Takes a little more effort on 1/2" cpvc. Getting it to start cutting through, it does better if you can work the tool in a ratcheting motion at first and then goes through easily. The tool itself is plastic, which makes it slightly flimsy. Works well enough for the occasional diy'er.

By far the best polyethylene pipe cutters
I've I could give this 6/5 stars I would. By far the best polyethylene pipe cutters. Work for any size up to 1.25" 200psi water line pipe. I have had to cut 1.5" poly pipe but it doesn't fit in the groove so you have to use 2 hands it's easier to just cut with a pvc saw and torch the ends to clean it up. They use to sell these at Home Depot but stopped and the smalle blue or black ones they sell only cut 1" poly and I work a lot with 3/4" 1" and 1.25" so I need these. If it's 100psi poly it's best to not squeeze to cut it you end up linking the pipe not getting the cleanest cut. Start with some pressure as twist the cutters around until it slides through the pipe. These are much quicker than the big bulky clamping cutters as well and wicked lightweight. It does cut pvc but again you have to use the twisting method with good pressure and it's a little more diccifult. For irrigation and well work these are perfect. Also works great with PEX plumbing. Same material as poly pipe just different measurements on the pipe it's self. PEX is smaller than poly.

Does the job
Simple and easy to use. Only bit that concerns me is the tiny piece of metal that holds the thing closed, pretty easy for it to get knocked out or broken.

Da bomb
These beat the milwaukee pex cutters any day. They can do up to 1 1/4 series 200 poly, and 11/2 series 160 poly
