Great belt sander for the money
I'll preface by saying that I am an amateur wood worker and this is my first belt sander. I do a lot of power carving and was in need of a belt sander. This one was at a really good price point, had good reviews (on Amazon), and looked more solid in comparison to others in the same category (Harbor Freight and the like). There was minimal set up, just the bar on the top and the shelf below which were both easily screwed on. The belt itself has had its grit hold up pretty well with what I've used it on (oak, plywood, cedar), but I have not tried changing it out. My biggest gripe is the poor dust collection it has, I connected a shop vac and I still had a significant amount of sawdust accumulate on some parts on top. The miter gauge seems a little chintzy, but not a big deal for the price in my opinion. The unit is SOLID with a strong steel body and minimal plastic parts. I was very pleased with it's heft and stability that seems above its price point. It doesn't look like a toy with some other sanders I was considering. I'm not a fan of the baby poop green color, but that is lowest on my list of priorities.

Belt stripped out in first 10 minutes of use
I used this for making an acoustic guitar bridge bland from Ebony rough sawn blank. It was 8" x 2" x 5/8" piece of Ebony. I was able to sand 3 sides but on the final side sanding belt started slipping, the motor was still turning but any downward pressure on the wood and the belt quit turning. I removed the drive belt guard and the drive belt was hanging loose on the 2 driveshafts. When I got the drive belt off I saw that the ribs had stripped away 11 ribs gone and several others tearing away. I am a machinist by trade, was not applying excessive pressure. The tool itself seems sturdy and well made. It was sanding evenly and I was pleased until the drive belt gave out. Very disappointed in that for sure. I have to finish this guitar and was hoping this would have been a tool that I could use in the future. Have no idea how long it will take to get a replacement drivebelt or if I do will it just happen again!! Thinking of sending the whole thing back. :(

Great Product
I needed something to help shape my knife and garden tool handles and this belt grinder does the job. Prior to this I was using a portable belt sander which was hard to maneuver and cumbersome because I needed to bolt it to my table. For the price of this sander, I can't complain. It does what I need it to do.

Delivered 2 days ago. I just fired this up for the first time today
Only time will tell, but so far so good. Let's set the record straight, at this price point - this is a hobbyist tool, but a very good hobbyist tool! It's solid, performs great, and well constructed. If you want something better, be willing to fork out the dough and get a 900,000 amp unit (kidding of course). In my initial test, I tried to bog the unit down and I could not, however, I was using a relatively small piece of test wood. I highly recommend this belt/disc sander. Maybe I will do an update after using this unit for a year or two. In the meantime, If you are thinking about buying this unit, and you CLEARLY understand HOW you will be using this product, you will be really happy with this purchase - so go for it. Have fun, build, create, fix and repair, and may this product and others like it, help you to unleash your inner craftsperson. Cheers!

Glad I bought this one
Wood under many brand names this machine is a pleasant surprise in the Rockwell colors. It's been a workhorse in the shop and the only complaint is that since I didn't Bolt it down, I get more vibration than I would if I had. I reach for this a number of times a day.i may get another to set up with a different grit to speed things along.

Works Great! Instructions? Not So Much…
Once I was able to get everything dialed in, the sander worked as expected. However, the instruction book was very vague regarding the setup. A quick search on YouTube revealed what needed to be done. Although this unit says Rockwell, it’s the same as the Wen models but with a different name on the side. Note: if the belt wants to walk to one slide, adjusting the nut for the pressure drum until it is level will correct the problem. The adjustment screw pushes one side up or down (in or out).

Replacement Works Thus Far
The product arrived with an obviously defective drive system. Horrible noise. I thought about fixing it, but returned it instead. A replacement arrived in ONE day, and this one seems to work fine.

Sander would not run until debris was removed from the electric motor.
No manual or instructions with the product. Found a single page of an owner manual online. Motor was grounded by a piece of metal debris between the rotor and stator. Managed to fix myself to avoid the pain of returning the sander.

Good Unit
Good unit, more than enough power to do appropriate jobs for the tool. I have been sanding hard maple crib boards and shaping briar pipes on it and there is more than enough power for those jobs. The belt tracks accurately, no slipping or stalling, and is relatively easy to change when needed. When I purchased this sander it was the cheapest one on Amazon and I feel it was very good value for the money. The amperage, belt size, features, etc. were all identical to units costing up to 150% of this one.

it's light duty
The sander is a light duty machine. If sanding is aggressive it will easily bog down. This sander is the same as a number of machines out there. Change the label you've got another machine. Also it is fairly noisy. If you have light duty sanding it's ok.
