Keys did not fit right

The door knob itself is fine for the price, but one key did not work at all and the other key is very tight, but usable for our purposes. We only use it for our out building, so it is not used daily. Otherwise, I would have returned it.

Excellent product that has only 1 annoying downside that can be easily fixed

If you already have Schlage door knobs in your house this is a very easy swap. Installation is a breeze. I see the complaints about the rosettes. I had no issues with inserting the screws or the screws not being the correct length. The only problem I had was with the screws coming lose with regular use of the door and then the rosettes hanging loose on the knob and the knob itself coming a bit loose. Surprisingly, if you over-tighten the screws they will slip. I fixed this problem with applying some Loctite Threadlocker Blue 242 (costs approximately $7 for a small tube) on the 1st 10 threads of each screw. This really tightened up the screws for the knob and the rosettes and the screws won't come lose with regular use of the door and/or knob. The threadlocker sets in 10 minutes and fully cures in 24 hours, so be gentle with the door for 24 hours. Another tip, Home Depot will re-key these knobs for a small fee to match your existing keys, which will save you 5 times the cost of this lock for locksmith fees. Overall, great knob with key, but Schlage should have included threadlocker with the the knob or do a better job machining the knob to hold the screws without coming lose.

Garbage. Avoide this door knob.

I bought 3 of these with identical locks. After taking them out of the package, I noticed the rosettes were loose. They were so loose, that tightening the door knob while it was on the door did not keep them from spinning or jangling. I exchanged them and got 3 more without loose rosettes only to find that one of them was could not be tightened to the door. the screw would only go in about 1/3 of the way before stopping. I exchanged them for 3 more. One of those had a broken lock right out of the box. The key wouldn't go in the slot more than about 1/8 inch. I've spent the last 4 days, going to different 3 Home Depots trying to find 3 identical locks that didn't have some kind of manufacturing defect. I haven't been able to find any. I know I could buy 3 that seemed to be in good shape with different locks and have them re-keyed and have new keys made. The whole point of having multiple knobs on the shelf with identical keys is to avoid that hassle. This seems to be an issue everywhere. I went to my local Menard's that carries the same make and model. They had the same issue. 2/3 of them had loose rosettes. I am extremely disappointed with the quality of these locks. Schlage has a major quality control issue. I would not recommend this door knob to anyone if you need multiple knobs with the same lock. It seems like the only way you can 3 knobs with identical locks is to buy 3 where the rosettes don't spin even if the locks don't match, have 2 of them immediately re-keyed, and have new keys made to make up for the now useless ones that came with those 2 door knobs.
