Good Lock

This lock seems pretty solid. There are some things I like about it and some I don't. The Deadbolt itself seems pretty solidly built. But does not attach quit as solid as my last one. The bottom attaches with a bolt going through the door. My last one just had a screw going into the door that was much easier to attach. My old handle was solid from the top to the bottom. This one is bolted together. I am sure this lets Schlage change grab handles with the thumb "depressor" more easily for different patterns with out more molds. Because of this you have to be carful to match up your lower hole with the top with the handle straight, or you might end up with a crooked looking affair. Other than that I have no further gripes. This is about the only black handle you can find. Lots of Dark Brass but I liked the look of this color better. I have had it about 6 months and it still looks good.

Nice look, Issues with mechanism

I don't like giving middle of the road reviews, but this handle set has me torn. Once installed, it looks great. Solid, styling, has it all. But it was not easy to make work, and I would have expected better instructions from Schlage. Biggest issue: center slot where inner handle rod threads through the latch mechanism did not pivot smoothly at all. I found a way to make it work, but I had to do a lot more monkeying with the handle and the door itself than I had bargained for. Schlage,if you're out there, you really need better DIY instructions. On those alone, I'd give it a 1 star. And I'm an avid DIYer.

Reordered but different in a bad way!

I ordered this part for our front door as a reorder from a previous order from about 3 1/2 years ago. First of all, this is the third outside part of this lockset on a house built in 2003 and the door never sees the sun as it is on a north facing porch 8 feet under the overhang. And yet the finish is so poor that it is very ugly after only 3 years. When the new part arrived I installed it only to find that the inside handle would only open the door by turning clockwise. Inspection revealed that the new part inside square was so long that the square on the inside handle engaged it and that prevented the handle from operating in both directions. The solution was to remove the new faulty part and install the old one on the new handle. Our door is 1 7/8 inches thick and solid. There is no mention of a minimum thickness for the door for this to work correctly. I guess the door would have to be about 2 1/4inches thick.

Great design and color

Great design and color. I had a hard time finding the right color to match the Quikset that came standard with my new home 14 years ago. This hardware is very well built and easy to install. The warranty is also among the top out there.

Made for outdoors.

I like that this has a stainless steel base, instead of regular steel, so it should hold up better in the weather. Our old handleset looks horrible after a couple decades.

Missing parts

Be very careful with Schlage products. Almost all of the lock sets and dummy handles I bought had missing pieces or the backplates were not the shape as advertised.

Solid, easy to install

Nice quality, got it at a reasonable price, delivered much faster than expected. Easy installation, looks great on a red door; the exterior f58 handle can be combined with interior f59 part of different color and design, which is an additional bonus.

Unpleasantly Surprised and Disappointed

What you see is what you get!! There are NO INTERIOR HANDLES included in purchase price and package. It will now be a very expensive door set when I have to buy the knob for handle set and thumb turn for deadbolt. Home Depot would have been cheaper!! I guess I should try and find a one-sided door to go with my new handle set. Very disappointing!! Who would ever buy a set for just the outside of the house???? Perhaps if the description indicated clearly that there were no interior components and that they had to be purchased separately, I wouldn't feel so victimized!!

Nice Set

Very sharp set and slick that you order this in two pieces, Inside and out. Enables you to select a different colour for inside than outside depending on your decorating.( used the aged bronze on the outside to match outside door colour, and matte black for inside) That is more flexible than the all in one sets sold at the big box stores.

Solid, Secure and Easy to Install

Not sure why the previous reviewer gave this product one star for not being complete as the description clearly says EXTERNAL HALF only, requires the F59 set to complete the handle. That aside, the product is fantastic. I paired it with the matching Jazz interior lever and it was fantastic. Fit and finish were top notch and instructions were very clear for installation. All in all installation took me 10 mins as I used the pre-existing holes in our front door. The quality and heft of this set is much better than the Weiser set it is replacing.
