Soothing, covers a wide area of ceiling and definitely worth your money
Initially when I was researching home planetariums, I was put off by some of the negative reviews on this product, and instead convinced myself to shell out $250 for the Sega Flux (you can see my review under that). I promptly returned it the next day and ordered the Smithsonian after all. It’s still not super realistic and honestly, a kid’s nightlight would probably do the job just as well, but it’s soothing, pretty and covers a large swath of ceiling, and you can have just stars or mix it up with pics of the moon, planets or spaceships if you choose. And we’ll worth the $40.

A Cheap Novelty
It is inexpensive and it shows in the construction, with a little patience it does work fine but I wouldn't expect it last long in the hands of a child. It is a bit noisy and battery life is poor, but the images are cool and it is nice tool to help spark an interest. For the price it is okay, but nothing great.

Love it.
Stars rotate. Has 3 slides of pictures that will overlay the stars. You can focus the slide picture. The pictures are colorful and bright enough to be enjoyable. There is a storage for the slides. We love it. My son invited family over for a "Planetarium" night. Only one downfall is the rotator is loud so if you are setting it up for a little one to go to sleep to, it might be too loud.

Needs more
Unfortunately , they do not make more slides that can be purchased for this projector. It would be nice to expand on the experience.

Cheaply made
You’ll need a very small screwdriver. The buttons don’t always turn lights off. Comes with three small viewfinder-like wheels, but what’s seen isn’t labeled. You need to shine this on a close wall. It’s very fuzzy on the ceiling, I misplaced the small folder paper that might tell me what the heck I’m looking at. My very precocious three year old knows lots of planet trivia, but I can’t check accuracy

Know what you are buying.
We were looking for a nightlight essentially with a space theme to help us sleep. Not only is it a battery operated toy it has a15 minute timer that cant be bypassed. The picture discs have to be manually rotated. The stars do rotate but are nothing more than a bunch of pinholes. Definitely not worth the price I paid for it. Essentially an overpriced toy in a pretty box.

Very good, not for long distances, and not so much picture disc..
Really nice product, my childs are very happy. The only concern to me is: Exist a lot of space objects, trillions! and came with only 3 disc... I think this can be better. Other concern is: resolution is not good at 6 or more meters, too fuzzy. But, in overall rankig: It's HIGHLY recomended!! It's very very funny!
