Painful experience for Granny
I bought the LOVELY little spade and fork for my grandson; they were greeted with great joy ........BUT.... in the process of helping him to get the packing off, granny collected a large splinter from the handle joint, in her thumb. Some of it was removed (about 1/2 inch, )but there is more concealed and causing pain. BOTH the implements were the same. It is such a pity that such lovely tools should be marred by such an inattention to detail. Just as well it was Granny's thumb rather than the birthday boy's day ruined--but Granny is still suffering 4 days later.

Very poor quality finish
I bought this for use in compact borders for which its size is ideal. However the finish on the handle is really poor and would have resulted in cuts and splinters had I not spent 15 minutes with the sandpaper. The interface between the wooden handle and the stainless steel spade is also poor as the diameter of the handle is just a bit too big which creates a bit of a lip at the junction which will rub in constant use. Finally the rivets that attach the spade to the handle protrude quite a bit so you have a nicely polished stainless steel shaft spoiled by bulging rivets. This is a potentially very useful stainless steel gardening tool that is spoiled by very poor quality of finish.

A Lovely Spade for Me & the Granddaughter.
Bought this for my youngest granddaughter (aged 6), who came to 'help' me dig my wildlife pond. It's lovely quality and a miniature version of the one I used, so she was delighted. It's waiting for her to come back to do some more gardening with me, but I admit to have found it quite useful myself planting my raspberry canes and various other planting jobs. It's being used as midway between a trowel and a full-sized spade!

Robust and easy to use
This junior garden spade is brilliant a smaller version of the renowned spear & Jackson tool. My grandson absolutely loves it and is busy digging up my garden!
