A good basic hitch rack
The construction of this rack is very solid and sturdy. As has been recounted here many times, the instructions are scant (and that's being kind). If you have any mechanical aptitude, the assembly should nonetheless offer no challenge. A word of caution from my own personal experience: double-check the positioning of the vertical braces before trying to slide them onto the center post! I put the first one on backward, and it took repeated hits with a rubber mallet to get it off for another try, and I wound up cracking the plastic endcap of the center post. Once I had everything properly placed, assembly and mounting on the hitch was a breeze. The anchors are relatively cheap velcro straps and are not ideally positioned but they'll get the job done. I concur with other reviews that an additional Bungie strap will add to security and peace of mind. Being a very bare-bones alternative to some other high-end racks, this one does not come with built-in security features. There are appropriate holes for adding a lock to prevent the entire rack from being stolen. A thin bike chain, cord-lock, or padlock with a long hasp should suffice. I don't typically travel long distances with my bike, but what little I've been able to observe the whole thing is pretty sturdy and allows for very little play/bouncing with the bike attached. I'll update this review over time.

Perfect if you want to remove the bike rack frequently!
Pros: Well made. Holds 2 bikes. Lite enough to put on hitch, and take off, each time we go for a ride. Rack has a good angle out from hitch so does not scrape on the ground when going up a steep driveway. (very important!) Cons: Not quite as sturdy as a more expensive rack, but much lighter and easier to remove. Caution: Do not over tighten the large wing nuts--it's not necessary. This is my 2nd rack, and I stripped some of the wing nuts by over tightening on my 1st rack which I had for 5 years.

Had this model for 10+ years
Built by previous named company I have the exact version of this bike rack. It hauls my wife and my bike for years and years. The Pins are retained by a stainless steel cable pressed fit into the locking pins. The system is excellent with the compression clamp vertical riser rubber protected u hook keeps the bike pushed down into the bike tire slots. The tires are retained with velcro straps per tire and work seamlessly to keep the bikes from jumping around or popping out. I give this a 5 start rating only because it keeps on keeping on. It is excellent contruction and I can recommend it as it adjusts quickly from our road bikes to our beach bikes - Enjoy -

sport rack
This bike rack is very well made. It is constructed very strong. We have used it 3 times so far, and every time the bar that hooks over the top and pushes down to hold the bikes has come loose. We almost lost one of the bikes. Not very happy about that!! Since then we have used bunge cords to hold the bikes in case the hook bar comes loose again, and it has. This seems to work.

works well, fairly sturdy, lost the lock for the pin
Assembly out of the box was pretty easy even though the instructions weren't the greatest and the indicated wrench sizes for the various bolts were incorrect. We have used it a few times and it is fairly sturdy, holds the bikes securely and doesn't rattle around. Not sure about the threaded pin for the receiver hitch, but it does seem to hold it securely. have lost the locking end for the pin as it fell off the second time we used the carrier, even though we are pretty sure it was in the locked position

Pin Lock needs to be purchased separately for another 50 bucks
I've tightened all the nuts and bolts, but it still sways when i drive. Also, I've had to purchase a pin lock for another 50 dollars to ensure i dont have to dismantle it everytime I take off with my bike. You get what you pay for as usual.

Not fancy
But works great. Very solid and well designed. It just doesn't look as slick as the ones costing lots more.
