MAGIC!!

I have a 35 gallon pond that got very murky. I put the barley flakes into a stainless tea strainer and put it in my pond. Within a few days the water was incredibly clear. It has been a month now. I have not refilled the strainer with new barley and the pond is still clear. Works like magic!!

took longer than advertised

Thought it wasn't working at first as it was advertised as seeing results within days. But with a combination of not overfeeding, a little pond clarifier and the barley packet, this is the most algae free my pond has been this time of year. I can see the bottom and all the fish.But it did take a few weeks, multiple filter cleaning (I have a natural filter pond using plants) and some water exchanges it seems to be keeping it clear. (Think it would work in the pool?)

Results Questionable

Even after several weeks in the water, I question whether this has had any effect. It became necessary for me to use other products this spring to get algae under control. Unlike some, I don't mind the presence of some algae as it provides valuable food for the fish in my pond. However, I noticed no appreciable difference from this product alone. I have left it in the water on the chance it is helping some. However, next time I will purchase barley straw. This is not flakes, by the way. It appears to be a bag of whole barley grain. Edited for spelling error

Big problem with this product

I put it in the pond part of my fountain and for a few days I thought maybe it was working. But! Some animal, cat, raccoon, deer, don't know - which pulled it out and scattered the barley seed everywhere- in the pond, on the deck. It was a mess and I still haven't gotten it all out of the pond. Unless the packet can resist the animals it is worthless!

Barley Hay Flakes

I bought these to try and see what Barley Hay and Flakes would do to keep my koi pond clean ecologically. It is almost 7000 gallons and it needed more than what I purchased, but it was a definite good idea and I had a great experience with the purchase!

Flimsy bag

Product arrived unuseable, the heat sealing on the mesh, must not of sealed at the factory. The mesh bag is way too thin to hold the weight of the product. This was NOT damaged in shipping, but a design fault.
