True Plug and Play - Great Kit Five Stars
Great kit, everything you need to power up a four / five and / or seven pin trailer harness for the Nissan Frontier. The factory provides pre-wiring for a trailering package but terminates it in the passenger's kick panel and on the frame rail behind and below the driver's side taillamp assembly. This kit has everything you need to plug-n-play, no soldering or splicing required. Recommend 101% and Tekonsha's quality is top-notch. Going to add their P3 electronic brake force controller when I get ready to tow with electric brakes. Take note though, on my 2014 Frontier, the brake control line was swapped with the +12v charge line despite reading that another exactly same year and model truck worked out of the box here on the Amazon review. This is not Tekonsha's fault but a known issue with the Nissan harness, that the dark blue and black wires ( brake controller & 12v "house power" ) are swapped inside the truck's harness. An easy fix and once corrected everything worked as expected. Also take note that I can not comment on the trailer-side socket quality other than that it appears to be quite beefy, there was nothing wrong with mine but I wanted a 4 / 5 and 7 pin combo multi-socket so I cut off the existing socket assy leaving about 4" of wire hanging in case I'd like to use it somewhere else, then installed a Hopkins 48470 Endurance Multi-Tow Vehicle Side Connector in it's place. I simply stripped and tinned the bare wires then followed the OE harness colour arrangement to make all the setscrew connections. Be sure to liberally apply dielectric grease to all electrical connections during installation, to prevent corrosion. At that point my testing revealed the reversed harness wires mentioned above, and a little Internet searching also revealed that many other Frontier owners had run across this same faux-paux. Okay, not a big deal, remove the four mounting bolts, pull the socket, switch the offending leads and retest and remount. All golden. Will be pulling a UHaul 4 pin trailer this weekend.

DOUBLE CHECK YOUR PLUG BEFORE YOU HOOK UP ANY TRAILER
I'll tell you what, this kit is awesome. Super simple to install, heavy duty components, and everything is color coordinated to match the OEM wiring on my 2007 Nissan Xterra Base Model. Took me maybe 10 minutes to install the whole kit. HOWEVER, I hooked it up to my brand new 2021 22' Forest River Wolf Pup. Very first trip off of the lot, it ROASTED the brand new brakes and magnets on my trailer axle. Turns out that the Trailer Brake wire, and the Charge line wire were reversed (black and blue) just like some of the other reviewers. Sending full power to the brakes. I should have checked. I knew better. but i trusted the kit, and I payed the price. snipping the wires and revering them with butt connectors did the trick, but this whole deal could have been avoided if I would double checked before hooking up any of my trailers. CHECK YOUR PLUG AFTER INSTALLING THIS KIT REGARDLESS WHAT TYPE OF VEHICLE YOU INSTALL IT ON!

If you are using a brake controller read this
I bought this harness because I was in a hurry. I had one day to pick up a camper and needed a brake controller. When I hooked up the camper naturally it was flooding rain and the brakes on the trailer locked up when plugged in and released when unplugged. Come to find out now that the weather has cleared up and a returned (assumed defective) brake controller later. I found out that the blue wire and the black wire were backwards at the vehicle side plug in. Blue is trailer brake output and black is for trailer battery. Due to them being backwards it was sending full power back to the brakes locking them up. So if you have a similar problem you can cut and swap wires at vehicle side of pigtail or swap blue with black on trailer. Of course you should put a meter on them first to be sure. Other than that, a good buy and easy to install. Hope this helps.

Great but!
On my 2015 Frontier, had the brake control line swapped with the +12v charge line despite reading that another exactly same yr and model truck worked out of box here on the Amazon review. Because of the review I thought it was the controller and bought another controller only to find out it was the two wires swapped. Make sure to check your trailer plug and wiring before hooking up to your vehicle. You may need to cut and cross the two lines leading to the vehicle’s 7-way connector as I did. I tried to take apart the connector to be a clean wire swap but no such luck had to cut, swap, solder and seal the wires. Buy an inexpensive 7 pin tester and be sure. The tester will allow the controller to indicate as if a trailer is connected, saving time and grief.

Fit my 2015 Frontier perfect. I verified with a volt meter and had to switch black and blue wires also, after that it works great! I bought a cheap mounting bracket, had to modify it to get by, ended up throwing it away. Buy the recommended mounting bracket, it fits good and is very sturdy, it will save you trouble and money. One star deducted because of wiring, thanks to other reviewers who posted about this problem.
