Heavy
These are extremely heavy. Sturdy does not always have to be heavy. In this case it is.

Basic Fire Utensils
These are very basic, serviceable fire tools. I got them to help with logs in my fire pit, but haven’t had much opportunity to use them. They are not premium or ornamental, but the logs don’t care. The tongs don’t seem like they’d be effective against full sized split wood.

Good length, nice weight, finish will likely not last.
This is a nice set for the lover of campfires. We have an outdoor fire pit and occassionally use it throughout the year. We've been looking for a nice fire poker set, and this is definitely going to work. My only concern is that the finish appears to be what you would fine on a non-stick pan. Here are the pros and cons: PROS: -- Weight -- Both the poker and the tongs have a good weight and should be able to easily move fairly heavy logs around. Saying that, I would say as long as logs can be lifted by a single individual, they probably aren't too big for this set. -- Length -- When I opened the package, I was a little worried about the length, but not to fear, both items do appear to be long enough to provide a safe distance between the individual and the targeted logs. The tongs length will depend on the circumference of the log. As it gets bigger, the length of the tongs will shorten. This likely means that you need to be prepared that these tongs will not move large large logs without getting fairly close to the fire. CONS: -- Finish -- as mentioned earlier, I don't expect this finish to last. So you should be aware of possible toxins from the finish that will get heated by the fire. -- Packaging -- this was a little ridiculous. It took me far longer to get the items out of the box than it did to put the poker together and adjust the tongs. The box was both taped and glued. Once inside, there was a lot of protective packaging over both instruments. I was a bit disappointed because of the resources wasted on something that is expected to get dinged up. Overall though, don't hesistate to get these if you're looking for something like this. I expect them to last quite a while. Enjoy the campfire!

Will be great for camp fire management.
I got this for my fire-pit, got tired of using sticks and old branches. It comes with a poker and a log grabber. won't use the log grabber much, but it's always nice to have standing by during fire management. We've all had those times when a log gets thrown on and starts to smother the fire, or the fire shifts. The finish is decent dark bronze color. Most people probably would purchase for inside use and I would consider this the minimal needed tools for an indoor fireplace. For indoor use I'd probably look for a 3 piece set, including a shovel, but this is all that's needed for outside use. When you open the tongs to grab a 6 inch log your hands will be 18 inches from the fire. That seems reasonable. The wider you open the tongs the closer your hand gets to the fire is the only problem with the tongs.

Useful for the fire pit
I planned to keep the poker and tongs outdoors for my firepit. I didn't realize that the poker came in 2 pieces to be screwed together. So, I am skeptical about the durability and longevity of the poker because it is not one continuous piece, i.e., risk of rusting or coming loose over time. The tongs are pretty hefty and easy to use, but it is a bit of a struggle for some wider logs... which means I'm going to make my husband split some wood. I would've like the option of hanging the poker by a strap and perhaps the same style handle for the tongs too. The good thing is these tools are also much longer and heavier than the current one I'm using, which means I won't get singed as often when I'm poking the fire. Otherwise, these look nice and work as intended, even though they weigh substantially heavier than what i am used to, I can't speak to their durability and longevity at this moment.

Fireplace poker kit
It’s what you would expect for a fire place poker and log carrier. Works as intended.

Good and solid for sticks and small logs
These fireplace tools are designed and well sized for an ordinary small home decor wood fireplace. The tongs can handle a small piece of split wood or kindling. The poker is longer than normal, which is nice, but should not be used as a lever because it's several separate pieces screwed together. It's called a "poker" for a reason, not a "lever!" But as long as you respect what these tools are, and don't try to play lumberjack manhandling a Yule log, they'll work very nicely to keep your fire bright and toasty. They are made of metal, except that the poker has a wooden handle which will help keeping you from getting burnt if you leave it in the fire too long. Keep them dry and they'll serve you for years.

Just the essentials
We have a working fireplace in our home. We don’t use it often but enjoy it on icy winter evenings when it’s too cold to go outside. I’ve seen the big displays of fireplace tools but wasn’t interested in having it in our living room year around for something we only use occasionally. That said, we definitely needed something to tend the home fires with and this set is a great solution. Heavy enough to push larger logs around, the steel poker and tongs will move the logs allowing for even burning. I can keep these tools out for the coldest months and break them back down for storage. Outside fires will also be easy and this set will travel when warmer weather comes. It’ll be great for campfires or the fire pit. I’m happy with this set although we haven’t had a fire in the fireplace yet. I foresee these tools being exactly what we need and I’m happily awaiting the icy cold.
