The description says its "corded", but it does not come with a cord. Otherwise, it works just fine.

This item is a good value and it works. It is very basic, but by coupling it with a ($14) Wi-Fi smart plug, it has better functionality than Malibu's $268 equivalent (which includes a built in timer that is not Wi-Fi compatible). Amazon's ad describes it as "corded," but that is inaccurate. There is no cord. It also has no switch and no timer. This means you either have to hard wire it to a hot switch or add a corded plug and a timer (like the aforementioned Wi-Fi smart plug). I also note that there is no dedicated normal size grounding screw, so you need to add a crimp connector to your ground wire or otherwise squeeze it under a small mounting screw in the unit. I gave it only three stars because of the misinformation in the ad, but this would still be my top choice because of its value.

Gotta Know How

The price and performance of this product is great. I've installed many units with the requested outcome of 12v transformer. This one seems to produce strong 12v. Yes, I used a digital meter that gave me a 12v reading, however the wattage was definitely stronger than many others of different brands. I purchased two, the first one was for Two LED, multi-color pool lights (The Big Ones). They look great. The second was the same 12v, led but smaller niche less lights. They too looked better from the power supplied by this transformer than the sponsored pool transformers. I will use this one until they build something better at a better price. Great product!

It's not a bad transformer if you know what you are doing but be advised the output is VAC, not DC.

The transformer is well constructed, but comes with absolutely no instructions. You have to supply your own power cable. In the US connect black wire to L the white wire to N. There is no obvious connection for safety ground, an obvious deficiency given that it has a metal case, but it will work without making the connection. Be advised, output is VAC not DC. This will work for many rectified landscaping lights but check what you are hooking up. DC motors and DC lights won't work.

Great! One output vs two for many other units.

Easy to set up. See pictures on amazon for setup instructions as none come with item. What I liked best about this item is there is one outlet connection, meaning I could connect my whole 100ft of wire and lights at one end of the wire. Other 300W units on here divide the 300W into 2 meaning I would connect half my strand to one output and the other half to the other output. That would require me putting this unit in the middle of my 100ft strand or purchasing an additional 50ft of landscape wire to get power to the other half of my strand. None of that is necessary when you purchase this unit.

Well worth the money

After a long research for a 300w 12v transformer I landed on this. It is well worth for $60. I did not want any fancy things like dawn to dusk or timer because I have a smart switch controlling this Load wise I may have only about 150w which is only 50% of this transformers capacity. Basically this is a transformer for the price of a SMPS.

Does what it's supposed to do

Used this to convert 120v pool light to 12v LED. Install was very simple and in just a couple of minutes had the unit wired and running the light . Very pleased with purchase. Time will tell about longevity but unit seems very sturdy.
