Chances are that the clipper is functioning properly, however the problem usually is within the blade set. Most often, the blade sets may be dull or have a buildup of dirt and hair. Sometimes all it takes is one hair trapped between the top and bottom blades to affect the cutting performance of the blades. Remove the blade from the clipper and use the cleaning brush provided to remove any accumulated dirt and hair. Oil generously with the Wahl blade oil and reassemble. If the blade is dull or worn, you may elect to have it resharpened at the factory, credible sharpening service, or purchase a new blade at a Wahl dealer. Can my blades be sharpened? Most Wahl blades are designed for maximum life and can be resharpened by Wahl Clipper or a credible independent sharpening service. Check with a Wahl dealer or call 800-PRO-WAHL for information regarding your clipper and blades. Do I need to oil my blades? It is strongly recommended that you keep your blades well lubricated at all times, even during storage between usage. Although Wahl blades are protected from corrosion, they will eventually rust if not taken care of properly. It is suggested that you apply a liberal amount of oil occasionally during use and after the job is finished. Take the time to properly clean the dirt and hair from your blade and apply oil to the entire blade to prevent corrosion. What kind of oil should I use? Every Wahl Clipper is packaged with a tube or bottle of Wahl blade oil. It is recommended that you use only Wahl oil on your blades. Other aerosol type lubricants can evaporate leaving the metal susceptible to corrosion. Do I need to buy blade coolant? The majority of our clippers do not require blade coolant sprays, however some of the high performance, high speed professional units may require the use of coolants for the comfort of the animal.

Work great
My third one in over twenty years. I have dropped it one too many times. Then they get fussy to work right after being dropped. I loved being able to switch blade lengths with a touch of my thumb. I have used on dogs, horses, and people.

Dog Groomer recommended
I have a 16 year old long hair female cat who’s not active, so she’s on the heavy side, more like15lbs. It’s very hard for her to groom herself and she doesn’t like to be groomed. She was so badly knocked that I called a friend who’s a dog groomer. She’s allergic to cats, that’s why she only grooms dogs. I had explained the situation and she recommended Wahl Professional Animal Arco (I will copy her text below). I know it’s probably more than u want to spend but it’s high quality, cordless, and light. It’s got a long run time and doesn’t get hot as quick as other clippers. The blade is a 5-in-1 which handles very close shaving and should get under rather than stuck in the matts . It’s the only one I would pick for the job. Or you take kitty to the vet or a good cat grooming place. Good luck ♥️ It would cost me almost 300 for my cat to get groomed elsewhere because they would have to sedate her. I decided to take my friends advice and go with the clippers. I’ve tried other brands but not as good as this one. It’s worth it! No struggles, except with kitty. There were two of us holding her down, man can she put up a fight! Good grief! ????‍♀️ It was smooth and quicker to remove the hair and I didn’t use any guards, nope not this time. I just wanted everything off. Get this! When I was done, the blade was warm to the touch, not hot. I didn’t have to use a coolant. Hope this helps.

Mixed Feelings - Great Clippers, Fragile Blade Platform for Personal Use
I purchased the Wahl Professional Animal Arco Pet, Dog, Cat, and Horse Cordless Clipper Kit a while ago to groom myself at home. While there are aspects of this kit that I truly appreciate, I cannot help but express my frustration with the blade platform's durability. First, let's talk about the positives. This clipper kit is incredibly easy to use, with its lightweight and ergonomic design making it comfortable to hold even for extended grooming sessions. The cordless feature is a game changer, allowing me to move around with ease and no need to worry about tangled cords. The battery life is impressive, giving me plenty of time to finish grooming without constantly needing to recharge. Additionally, the adjustable 5-in-1 blade system provides a convenient way to switch between different cutting lengths for my various hair cutting needs. However, the blade platform has proven to be a major drawback. In the time I have owned this kit, the blade platform has broken twice. This is not only frustrating but also costly, as I had to purchase replacement parts. While I understand that no product is perfect, I expect a professional grooming kit to be durable enough to withstand regular use. Overall, the Wahl Professional Animal Arco Pet, Dog, Cat, and Horse Cordless Clipper Kit has great features and makes grooming myself much more manageable. However, the fragile blade platform leaves much to be desired. If you're willing to deal with the possibility of needing to purchase replacement parts, then this kit could still be a good option for you. I just hope that Wahl addresses this issue in future models to create a more reliable and durable product.

Powerful, Quiet, Long Battery Life, Smooth Running
Powerful, quiet, long battery life, smooth running, this clipper is amazing for it's size. I have tried a few different clippers over 60 years and 4 dogs. I have an aging 12 lbs Poodle Schnauzer that can no longer go to the groomer. I dreaded clipping this dog myself. Fussy little thing. This clipper being cordless, was a phenomenal advancement to say the least. There was never a cord to tend to. The small size and no cord made this one easy to maneuver device. It is so smooth it did not cause any numbness in my hand. You can hardly feel it running. I am not a pro groomer and I do not have time to comb and wash and do all the recommended things prior to clipping. I grabbed the dog and with ease, gently ran the clipper through the dogs fur snarls and all, with a #2 blade, several times. It powered right through, clipping through the snarls. This made it much easier as the next pass was smooth and easily removed the rest of the snarled fur. After about 1 hour, I noticed it was starting to slow down. I swapped in the supplied extra battery and after another 45 minutes, finished feet and all. I like this clipper so much I might buy 2 two!

Good trimmer
I like the trimmer, I'm a professional dog groomer. Glad it has 2 batteries. I gave it 4 stars because I have yet to have each charge last the time the manufacturer states. It does great for face, sani, and poodle feet.

Packaging description is not as described
After opening up this Wahl Arco cordless clipper, I noticed that the box packaging shows that there should be two rechargeable batteries yet there is only one. The instruction manual is pretty basic, only instructions on how to charge the battery and blades and minor troubleshooting. The manual does not explain anything about the blades themselves such as the differences in usage, how to use the different blade lengths, etc. You have to research that on your own. (Then again, this is a “professional” model.) The clipper itself runs well but it does have a considerable buzzing noise so if your pet is squirrely, it would require a gentle breaking in. The clipper is easy to handle and use however, I found out by using this product that it may have been a bit too wide for a small pet paw area. Maybe the Bravura Mini may have been a better option but I can make do with this. Overall, the clipper is good but deceptive packaging is not.

Comes with 2 batteries
I’ve used 3 times. Love it, with the exception of the on/off switch. It’s not like my old push button one and is a little snug trying to turn it on/off.

Not for long haired Doodles
I have a Goldendoodle that due to the Coronavirus did not get his usual six week groom in April. His coat is long and thick. When I read the reviews I tried to order the best clipper. The first ones were out of stock and these were rated number two and fairly expensive. They not only wouldn’t clip anything the battery kept lugging after only a few minutes. If your dog is thick and has any matts do not buy this clipper.

AWESOME!!!
I purchased these to clip one of my cats who has long thick hair that mats up easily. This cat hates combs, brushes and scissors. I've had to fight with her for years to try and keep the mats out by brushing her. I would get a couple of passes with a brush or comb and that was it. Scissors, which really isn't a good idea to be using, but I was careful not to cut her, one look at them and she was gone. Short of taking her to the vet or groomer to have her sedated and then shaved, I decided to give these a try. BOY am I glad I did. I got most of her body clipped in one sitting and she was PURRING!! She did tire of it, but hey the important parts got done. These clippers are light and easy to use, make very little noise. My cat is also scared of the vacuum cleaner, but wasn't of the these clippers. They vibrate but she enjoyed her mini massage while I clipped her matted fur! Perfect! Less stress for her and me. Have a bit more to do on her tail and lower sides but for the first time she did really well. These clippers come with TWO battery packs which is awesome. Highly recommend these clippers for cats!!

Works well but batteries are terrible
I have a thick coated and very curly miniature poodle who is super wooly, so I need descent clippers for him. When I first got this clipper in 2020 it mowed through his fur like a hot knife through butter. I was really impressed. But after a few months the batteries lost steam - seemingly overnight, and the quality of the cut has not been as good without good battery power. I find if I leave them on the charger for several hours before grooming I can still get a descent cut done, but if I had a bigger dog, I'm not sure I'd have enough batter power to get him clipped. I was really hopeful about these clippers - they are capable of going through thick fur, but the batteries must be at full capacity to do so, and that's been the challenge.

5-in-1 blade only ranges from 0.7mm - 3mm
I am a little disappointed the 5-in-1 blade only ranges from 0.7mm - 3mm, I still have to use the comb attachment for anything longer, I was hoping I could get away without. A set of comb (3mm, 6mm, 9mm, 12mm) came in the package but they are very cheap quality. Wahl sells a comb set for 5-in-1, but that's another $40 on top. A detachable blade clipper is still superior in that regards. The price is also high on Amazon.
