Variable speed works fairly well, easy enough to assemble, no issues found so far

The unit was easy enough to assemble and the parts were relatively well machined. I would say average to slightly above average quality for this price point. I haven't checked the accuracy of the laser cross hairs, but it is adjustable if you need to fine tune it. On assembly, the instructions aren't 100% clear on what to do with the track the table runs up/down on when you're assembling it. It's easy enough to see, but remove the track, put it into the collar on the table about halfway up, then slide that assembly over the tube and reinstall the top-collar. The tube from the base to head is 16 gauge steel and is relatively well machined including deburring inside the ends. The RPM display works well but can be hard to read in bright light. The chuck installed easily but I noticed the outer collar was out of round quite a bit. The bits that count appear to be good though. Overall I'd say for this price point, this is a great unit especially for someone that won't be using it for really precise drilling.

What can I say

This thing hauls when you need it to and can operate on delicate adjustment when you need that. Bought a vise to mount on the top. The laser is a little off but that can be adjusted. Safety switch key is awesome with a little one running around.

Great for hobbyists

My review includes the delivery because it effected our christmas. Packages are supposed to be dropped off in a foyer of this 4 unit. The delivery driver left it outside within 6" of the public sidewalk. Why? Because it was too heavy for her...and me. It even says 2 person lift on the box. So my husband, who it was intended for had to get it and since what it is, is all over the box, he knew a christmas present early. I talked to customer service about it. He was in the garage for a good hour tinkering getting it together after work with the accessories I got. He really appreciated the larger table For it I got. The only thing I didn't get was a stand since I wasn't sure where it would go or sit on. My advice, get the stand. You can always return it if not needed.

Very strong and well made.

I'm very Impressed with WEN PRODUCTS. it's heavy made and durable. This is the 10 inch throw modle, and it is heavy made. The assembly was simple. I had to have help lifting up on my work table. Control's are easy to set and use. I like the laser sight it has, for lining the material with the drill bit. I have 3 Wen power tools, and they are all pension made and tough.

Brand new drill press motor looks like it's been outside for 10 years Heavy rust paint falling off.

Just received my new Wen drill press. While unpacking the rest of the press looks new and unused, but the motor is heavily rusted with the paint flaking off all over. Did the factory just paint over a rusted motor shell? The serial number I hid but the date on the drill press is 8/22. Will update when i see if Wen will replace the motor. UPDATE!!! Wen sent me a new unrusted motor after I contacted them with pictures of the rusted one. They shipped it quickly and well packed. Due to it being winter, I finally got around to installing the new motor and it works fine.

Ok value

The best feature is the variable speed. Love it. However, the motor is rather loud compared with other drill presses I’ve used. The worst is the table is very difficult to lock in place. It requires a lot of strength to tighten the lock. Hoping this improves with use but so far it’s a pain in the butt.

Best drill press for the money

These are fantastic! From the strong motor to the linear speed adjustment with speed display to the clean and solid parts! Superb! Much much better than anything sold in stores in Canada, even when comparing costing 2 or 3 times more!

Shift on the fly

My days of moving a drive belt from pulley to pulley are over. With this beauty you just move a lever while the chuck is turning and a digital readout informs you of your progress. The laser site requires two AA batteries (why???) and I have not yet used it. The height adjustment for the table is loose and sloppy. I don't understand why it couldn't be a lot more precise.

El taladro y sus materiales son de buena calidad, lo compre para proyectos caseros. Satisfecho con la compra, solo me gustaría aclarar que el lasser es independiente de la corriente del taladro y este se energiza con un par de pilas, sería mejor que se energizara con la misma corriente del taladro.
