It worked but
Yes It made the cake flat. But that also made it denser, which I had not thought about before buying.

Strips created a cake with an even browning and texture through out.
The cake pans are really well made. If you want a tall layered cake like the one pictured on the product you will need to cook multiple cakes- either reusing the tins or purchase more of the desired size. At the time of this review a set of just the cake pans is about $27 while the two pack of strips on their own are about $8.25- so it is slightly cheaper right now to but them piecemeal which is the only reason I deducted a star. I’d never heard of the cake strips before but I was game to try them. The directions were easy enough to follow though I think others may not have judging from the reviews I've seen. I slipped the ring around the cake pan for a rough fit before adding the batter, I then let them soak for 5+ minutes while I finished prepping the pan and adding the batter. I then squeezed out the extra water and set the cake pan in the ring tightening the strap and making sure the second loop was close to the tail of the strip to hold it into place. The whole thing then went into the oven and I had no issues at all with slippage. The result was a cake edge and top that was the same as the rest of the cake with no browning on the edge, just a hint of gold at the top and moist throughout. Now full disclosure I used them with a vegan cake recipe I’d never tried before so. The strip had a bit of browning on the fabric when I removed it from the oven which it seems is expected. The cake itself slipped easily from the pan and I’d only used a bit of shortening on it. Better results than I normally get. I used a glaze on this particular cake but it came out easy enough and without as much of a crown that it would have made it easier to do crumb coat/frost. Note: DON’T throw away the label on the pans the back has a cooking guide telling you how much batter to use and cook time. It is really helpful and I’ve saved this in my cooking binder but I’ll also share it here: 6” rounds use 2-¼ cup batter and cook at 350 f for 35-40 minutes 8” rounds use 4 cups batter and need 37-42 minutes 10 inch rounds need 6 cups batter and 40-45 minutes 12 inch rounds need 8 cups batter and 45-50 minutes
