YG-1 F4 series vanadium alloy HSS spiral flute tap for multi-purpose. High-speed steel tools are good for most general purpose applications, offering a combination of hardness and toughness for wear resistance. Black oxide treatment adds lubricity and creates small pockets on the surface of the tool that act to hold coolant near the cutting edge. Round shanks allow use with a wide variety of toolholding systems. When run in a counterclockwise direction (right-hand cut) spiral fluted tools evacuate chips up and out of the cut to reduce clogging. 0.375-inches thread length. Applications: Good for steel castings and forgings/heat-treatable alloy steels, free machining stainless steel, heat and corrosion-resistant stainless steel/valve stainless steel, aluminum alloy castings. Excellent for low carbon/free machining carbon steel, medium to high carbon steel.

Buy this now - buy all of them, before they figure out they should charge 10x the price

I've bought a couple hundred taps, many costing ten times what these cost. These cut butter than any of them - OSB, Union Butterfield, etc. - and I have yet to break any of them.

Worked Great

Used this to tap 304 stainless and they worked great. Tap held up well and then the treads of the stainless worked really well.

Very impressed with this little cutter on cast iron.

I purchased this in the hope of tapping a thread in some cast iron. I'd done a bit of research online and wasn't sure if it would be up to the job. I'd tried using one of those no name multi tap and die sets without luck. I came across this well reviewed tap on Amazon and it sat in my cart for a few weeks. I finally bit the bullet and purchased it. As soon as I tried it with a hand tap wrench and a little 3in1 oil it cut into the cast iron easily. I was shocked at how easily it worked out. It left a nice #8-32 threaded hole that I was able to tighten a short stainless steel bolt into. A lot of words to just tell you it worked out for me.

Excellent product and a game

This bit is a game changer. I had to tap 30 holes and the process was going to take days of mindless labor that I was not prepared to sacrifice. Had already broken 3 hand taps in the piece of stainless steel and was starting to rethink my design entirely. Then this little tap arrived along with more hand taps in case it wouldn't work or broke. Put this in my brushless drill and changed the speed/torque and it took a 5 day job to a 2 hour job. Remember to always lube the tap and reverse out when you are done. Excellent product and a game changer
