Yogasleep White Noise Machine for Dogs

Interesting take on a white noise machine. This one is specifically made with sounds and music that are said to be soothing to dogs and can potentially distract them when they get worked up. The bark sensor is a feature that responds when it hears a loud noise. It isn't specific to barking though, I've set off the bark sensor by showering in the other room. The machine is easy to set up. It came with a USB C cord but needs either a wall adapter or to be set up close to a computer/USB hub because it intentionally does not come with a plug. It comes with an instruction book but the workings are pretty intuitive. A power button, volume up and down, a sleep timer with 3 settings, a button that cycles through the available sounds and of course the "bark" sensor. There are six sounds - 2 white noise settings, a babbling brook, ocean surf and two musical selections that might work to reduce anxiety in dogs. Because of the multiple sound choices this could work for both humans and pets and because it is small and lightweight it would be easily portable to move from room to room based on where the pets are. For example, in the bedroom at night and moved to another room where the dogs are housed during the day while the humans are at work. I personally find that the water sounds help me relax at night, I'm still not sure how the dogs feel about the sounds, maybe we haven't hit on the right combo yet, or maybe it's because my dogs typically only bark when they feel a "threat". Sure, that threat is usually the Amazon delivery person leaving a package on the porch and the dogs give a couple of barks and then quiet on their own. There hasn't been a stormy night yet to really give this thing a run for its money. I'm giving it 4 stars because in my opinion and compared to other white noise machines this one seems light weight and not very sturdy. The sounds are tinny and could use more bass and I dislike the trend of everything moving to USB and then the manufacturer not providing a power adapter.

Excellent white noise machine for dogs or human!

This is marketed as a white noise machine for dogs, but if you wanted a low cost alternative to the dohm, this would be acceptable substitute. The only reason it's for dogs is because there's a feature for it to turn on when there's a loud noise, such as a bark. And that feature works well enough. There's 6 noises this thing makes, there's a high pitch white noise which sounds like you're on the highway and it's road noise, and there's a similar white noise sound but lower in pitch. This one almost sounds like running water. But then there actually are 2 of water, one has waves crashing, and the other is a steady stream. Finally there's 2 chill, calming tunes, one reminds me of chopin, and the other is also chill but not really my thing. I really like the timer feature (set 45 min, 2 hours, or 8 hours), because I'm someone who forgets to turn things off. Overall, pretty nice little noise machine. There's no DC or AC power adapter, there's only a USB cable. I wish there were more sounds, and I don't really care for the tunes, but the two white noise options and 2 water options are nice enough that it makes this worth it. Due to lack of dedicated per supply and small noise selection, I gave this 4/5

Compared to sound machines for my grandkids this is better made, durable and clearer sounding

I've purchased a number of white noise machines for my grandkids but none for a dog. Therefore, I'm going to compare this machine to other similar machines for kids. First, it is more durable. The buttons are very easy to see (not hidden underneath or in the bottom back. The button functions are very obvious based on the design on each button. This is not the case for many machines! The button feel is "solid" when you push them, unlike others. Second, there are six sounds to choose from. Two are music, two are levels of white noise and two are water sounds. This is a very nice set of sounds, though I admit minimal. Third, there is no battery so you have to provide a USB plug in order to plug in the cable that comes with the unit. In a sense this is easier because you don't have to worry about running of battery. Finally, I'm not sure about the dog bark option. When activated, one of the six sounds starts to play when a dog barks, but I'm not really seeing my dog calming down or stopping barking. Usually when he barks it's because of a noise. As that noise continues, so does he with or without the sound running. Bottom line, this is a good noise machine compared top ones I have for my grandkids, the sounds are clearer than most and is more durable than many.

Nice sounds, pretty repetitive

Our poor puppers just shakes and shakes when there are thunderstorms. We just had one this week, so I put this white noise machine on for him in the room where he huddles under my desk when it storms. It's hard to tell, but it did seem like he was more calm and I saw him actually sleep during the storm which is not typical. I like the volume control and the different options for music (2 options) or just white noise. The first two white noise sounds though, sound like rain, so that doesn't help him. The wave option is a little better and the bubbling brook/stream is probably the best. There is also a timer feature for 45 minutes, 90 minutes or 8 hours. I set it for 45 minutes and that seemed to be the best for our scenario. It doesn't come with a electric outlet plug, so I'll have to find one to use for long term. But it does have a USB port, so I plugged it into my laptop for this first time. Time will tell if it helps with his storm anxiety.

loving this

I needed a second sound machine for my elderly dog and she seems to be enjoying this one. I leave it on the ocean sounds for her when we're not together. I haven't tested out the barking feature yet but I think its a cool idea. I will say I was pleasantly surprised when I opened this package. The packaging for the actual product is well done and sturdy, I was impressed. The item itself feels like it's good quality and it's easy to use!
