YUPO 5 x 7 inch pad-white heavyweight YUPO Synthetic Papers are extruded from polypropylene pellets. The process of extrusion occurs in their quarter-mile long manufacturing facility located in Chesapeake, Virginia. The various grades, weights and thicknesses of YUPO are spun into spools in lengths from 725 yards to 7, 500 yards, which are cut in to widths from 6 to 66 inches. YUPO is the 100 percent recyclable, waterproof, tree-free Synthetic Paper with attributes and properties that make it the perfect solution for a variety of marketing, design, packaging and labeling needs. Artists know that Yupo gives them an amazingly beautiful canvas to work with. Its smooth, bright white opaques and translucent give fine artists a medium that always goes big. This non-paper paper has become a best selling and most popular "alternative" watercolor paper. A synthetic (polypropylene) substrate is born with a non-porous surface that repels water. Yupo gives visual artists an amazingly beautiful canvas to work with. Its bright white, smooth finish gives artists the flexibility to work in several different mediums to achieve unique and creative results. Painting or drawing on the ultra-smooth surface of YUPO is different than regular watercolor or drawing paper, and will require some adjustments by the artist. The surface may be wiped clean to restore the original white of the sheet, making it an excellent surface for beginners. YUPO is also a very exciting substrate for more advanced and experimental artists. Its creative possibilities and suitable applications are infinite. Yupo - a slick, smooth, non-absorbent substrate that dramatically changes the way you paint, print or draw. Using this sheet, you can capture nuances, patterns, and shapes that were previously impossible to achieve on conventional watercolor and drawing papers. What makes it even more unique is its lifting quality. You may return to a painting when its done and redo specific areas over and over again. You can build up layers of paint like an oil painter working on a canvas, and then take them off to reveal the white of the sheet. Remember that water activates the paint, even paint put down months ago. Allow YUPO to dry completely. Spray YUPO with a matte-clear finishing spray to seal and protect it. Only use a sealant when your work is complete, as rework and touch-ups become difficult to do after sealing.

Acid free. Made in USA. This package contains ten 5x7 inch sheets. This extraordinary surface also resists tearing and buckling and it remains perfectly flat. It's an incredibly durable stain-resistant non-absorbent synthetic paper that holds ink and watercolor with razor sharp precision. Yupo paper is a unique alternative to traditional watercolor papers.

The quality of the paper is what you need to succeed
This type of Yupo paper is awesome!!! I haven't tried the other two yet. It's made so that you can keep redoing your work without wearing down the quality of the paper or warping with the heat gun. (Create, wipe off, repeat...) I've used different types of alcohol ink paper even the backs of photo paper and vellum paper and the Yupo paper has worked the best for me. The art work keeps that good quality look when it's done vs. The other thinner and softer non porous sheets I've used. There is one type of non porous paper I used that as soon as you wiped your mistake off the sheet with alcohol it leaves chalky residue on your fingers and the papers texture goes from matte to glossy but as soon as heat touches the paper it wrinkles up. So there's a big difference with Yupo. It's worth buying. I recommend it to anyone

Dilemma:great pad, but what is exactly synthetic paper?
Synthetic paper? But what is that, thought I, when I ordered this little 5x 7 " pad. This paper is said according to Yupo, a Japanese company, that it is recyclable, waterproof and tree-free, but what it made of exactly? It seems originally it was made with synthetic resin derived from petroleum that would give it this very special texture like papier glace (white and opaque) or a kind of plastic film effect. It is said that it is very similar to paper; it is strange to work with first, but it is interesting. The only thing for me is that it might not be planet friendly and consequently I need to know a little bit about it before deciding if i will or not go on buying it.

Perfect for Alcohol Ink & Sharpie Art
This yupo paper is phenomenal and I love it! The sheets are quite small but they're also fairly heavyweight. They're ultra smooth and each page rips out very easily so there's no tearing and no bending on the edges. It's perfect for alcohol inks and Sharpies, which I used to make my mom a creative Mother's Day card/painting. You can use a variety of paints and inks and other mediums on this paper. Try it!

Works for airbrush.
I bought this to try airbrushing on. I don't have a great deal of experience but I liked this substrate. The thickness is perfect and the surface is so nice to work on. I tried priming half of the sheet with Autoborne Sealer but it was not needed and in fact was harder to work on when erasing and scratching. I'll be ordering larger sizes of this for some of my work. I will add one thing, I worked at very low psi (7-11psi) and used createx illustration colors on it reduced at 9 parts 4012 high performance reduced to 1 part paint.

Good product but didn't work for what I wanted it ...
Good product but didn't work for what I wanted it for. I wanted to make stencils from my craft dies but this weight is too heavy. I will try a lighter weight Yupo paper for the stencils. I still like it for alcohol ink backgrounds and this one can be heat embossed if your careful.
