Overall great shorts with a couple minor problems THAT SEEM FIXED IN RECENT PRODUCT
I just bought a new pair, have had a previous pair (same exact model) for 3 years and have ridden at least 2000 miles in them. I love these shorts, and they are 1 of 2 (now 2 of 2) primary riding shorts, and have held up almost perfectly. No durability issues. Like some other reviewers, me in tight riding shorts is no longer in anyone's best interest, so I appreciate the "modesty" of these shorts. Some folks call these mountain biking shorts, but I use them for road biking and they work fine. Pad is on the big side, as noted by other reviewers, but doesn't bother me at all. Problems that prevented a 5-star rating: 1) Like others, I've had issues with the zipper on the old pair. I find that when the zipper pops open, I can fix it by pulling it all the way down and then back up, but I've had a couple rides with extra ventilation because I didn't catch the zipper malfunction. So it's not a deal breaker for me, but definitely not something that should happen on shorts at this price point. 2) My older pair are tan. I always use sunscreen when I ride, and the leg fabric quickly became permanently stained a grayish color for the bottom 2" or so -- I assume from the sunscreen and/or my sweat. Really hoping my new (gray camo) pair doesn't stain. A couple reviewers complained about the front pockets on these. Yeah, they're basically useless when riding because of shallowness, location and lack of zipper/velcro to seal them. BUT you get a zippered pocket on side of each thigh, another one on back of right thigh, and a zippered wallet pocket. Between these and the fact that all my riding shirts/jackets have multiple pockets, I don't miss the front pockets at all. Overall, I LOVE these shorts. UPDATE: My recently (2020) purchased version of these shorts have no zipper issues, and the fabric has not been stained by my sunscreen. I consider these 2 issues resolved.

Waist is about 32 1/2 inches unstretched - and the bunched up pleats at the back feel rather like plastic
For me with about a 34 waist give or take, the fit was a little too snug. The open pockets were well positioned and they wear well as shorts, but depending upon the liner I use when riding they can be tight and constricting. I find that the Revelry (also in L) because they are larger even though L, have no contraction whatsoever when I ride in them. I am going to try XL in these, but I fear it will be too large... What was annoying about these (a combination of the design and the fabric) was that the back has a huge amount of bunched up fabric where the elastic is - which feels like plastic and is scratchy and annoying. The Revelry does not have this, nor does the Ether LT for me (which is in size L not the same size as this regular Ether in size L). The big problem with the Zoic shorts are that the sizes for mens L are NOT anywhere near the same from one style to another. I purchased in size mens L: Black Market Ether Ether LT Revelry See photo. NONE of them are the same size waist even though ALL of them are mens size L. All of them have elastic bands in them of one size or another, but it does not work out to fix the problem as the largest L (Revelry) get bunched up when pulled tight enough for me, while at the other end of the spectrum the Black Markets are so tight that they are not possible to tolerate. Every short in mens L: 36 inch waist - Revelry 34 inch waist - Ether LT 32.5 inch waist Ether 30 inch waist Black Market The waist size for size L Revelry is 36 inches, Black Market size L is 30 inches! This is absolutely absurd! Please see the attached photo. The left edges are lines up, they are all flat with no stretching. Specifically for Black Market what makes it even worse is that the waist is 30 inches but it comes with an integrated belt that is nearly 40 inches long! A 30 inch waist and a 40 inch integrated belt! The other shorts have nice design and quality, without this 'feature' of the Black Market. I also found that for Black Market shorts the non-zipper pockets puff open and are not at a good angle. The non-zipper pockets on the Ether and Ether LT are perfect position. In the zipper only Revelry, all the pockets were fine. The zippers appeared good. I can't say what the actual waist measurements are for other sizes than L. Who knows!

Really great shorts at least two times better than the next ...
Really great shorts at least two times better than the next best pair I ordered out of 4 or 5 pairs...the button that holds the padded inside garment in place broke the first time I tried to snap it but I only plan to use the outer shell (the street/mtb shorts) anyways so not necessarily a problem for me. Also Id like two back pockets instead of just the one right hand back pocket. Also the zipper enclosure of the one back pocket could be slightly wider as I can barely get my hand in there to extract my money and any other things I put there. I also would like to see them add belt loops to the shorts for days when I want to carry extra weight in my pockets, as a pound or two of weight tends to cause the shorts to keep sliding down. If you tighten the waist too much with them built in belt you risk popping the waistband button open as its a snap button rather than a button or fastener that locks better or a combination, although the present velcro reinforcement near the snap button certainly helps.

Not made for men with buns and thighs larger than "flat" and "stick" respectively.
As is typical with shorts, these are too small. They still fit, but they're tight. For some reason, shorts (and especially swim trunks which are made much like these are) come from some alternate universe where men have board flat butts and tiny wastes. Unfortunately, that's not the same universe we live in. I wear a 42-44 waste pant and have athletic legs. I bought the 3XL since everyone else said these run small. And what to you know, they are tight. It's not just these, I have the same problem with shorts in general. Beyond that, they're still comfortable and breathe nicely. I haven't tried the padded liner yet, but even without the liner they worked good on my bike in just regular undies. So, 4 stars because they still do the job they were designed to do, but I'm docking a star until whatever universe shorts (in general) are made in aligns with ours finally.

Would be 5 stars but the included chamois ripped.
Aside from the included chamois ripping on the second day they're awesome. I'd happily buy another pair.

Perfect
Fit,comfort, padding and style are perfect. I ended buying another pair in green. If they had more colours i would buy a third pair.

Great shorts
Great shorts - the padded lining is removable so you can ride with/without it as needed. Pockets come in handy as well.
