PRODUCT DESCRIPTION The 1 in. 720A Pressure Vacuum Breaker Assembly protects against backsiphonage in high health hazard, non-potable residential and commercial irrigation applications. The 720A includes an approved check valve, vacuum relief, two test cocks, and inlet and outlet full port resilient seated shut-off valves. It also features a maximum pressure of 150 psi and a temperature range of 33°F to 110°F. The corrosion-resistant internal parts and all bronze bonnet and body construction provides added strength and protection against light freezes, while the tapped ball valves allow for easy installation in any position. Exact replacement, but not identical to older models

My 28-year-old Wilkins 720-A failed this week. I had to shut off water and drain the the system for another repair and when I turned the water back on, it leaked. Unfortunately, the handle on the input-side valve broke off when I tried to shut it off, and it doesn't make sense to just buy a rebuild kit and a valve. The new Zurn-Wilkins 720-A has identical input and output locations, so it should work as an "exact" replacement for most installations. However, pay attention to the location of the service ports which were re-located from the main body to the input and output valves. The older unit was designed to have the output on the right side only and this new unit comes with the output on the left, but is designed to be changeable between left and right output. If you have to swap it to a right-facing output, be sure to orient the valve handles and the service ports in positions where they are accessible.

DIY Project

Our original burst at the lower brass fitting this winter. My wife contacted a sprinkler specialist who quoted her an arm and leg fee. Five minutes on YouTube and I ordered this. I was done in a matter of an hour. Just dry fit everything before final assembly.

Hard to Setup

I purchased the Zurn Wilkins 1-720A 1" 720A Pressure Vacuum Breaker Assembly for my sprinkler system and it works, but I'm not completely satisfied with it. The installation process was more complicated than I expected and the instructions were not very clear. In addition, the plastic material feels cheap and not very durable. While it does its job of preventing backflow, I think there are better options out there in the market

It appears that I had a kink in the pex line feeding this vacuum breaker - so, IATA for complaining that the breaker was the problem when it was something else. The pressure was too low for the breaker to seal. When I fixed the pex line, the breaker worked as expected. Did not want to leave an unwarranted negative review.

Best price available to consumers in Canada.

Solid, heavy, the real deal. It's more economical to buy 1" and then 1" to 3/4" PVC adapters than to buy the 3/4" version of the vacuum breaker. I decided against paying 50% more for a frost-safe model because in either case they both should connected with unions to the sprinkler system, and disconnected and stored indoors during winter.
