The Anderson Metals coupling pipe fitting is made of brass and has female National Pipe Taper (NPT) threaded connections. This coupling fitting connects two pipes going in the same direction with the same diameter to extend a straight run. It has female NPT threads for connecting to male threaded pipes, creating a tighter seal than straight threads. This fitting is made of brass for corrosion resistance, ductility at high temperatures, and low magnetic permeability. Brass can be connected to copper, brass, plastic, aluminum, and welded steel. The operating temperatures for this fitting range from -53 to 121 degrees C (-65 to 250 degrees F). This fitting meets American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) B584 and American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)/American National Standards Institute (ANSI) B16 specifications for quality assurance. Pipe fittings are components used for connecting, terminating, controlling flow, and changing the direction of piping in many different industries. When purchasing pipe fittings, consider the application, as this will affect material type, shape, size, and required durability. Fittings are available threaded or unthreaded, in many shapes, styles, sizes, and schedules (pipe wall thickness). Anderson Metals manufactures brass fittings, valves, and pipe nipples. The company, founded in 1951, is headquartered in Kansas City, MO.

Not for 1/4" outside diameter (O.D.) compression fitting
I got perplexed installing a water hammer arrestor. The water hammer arrestor was labeled "1/4" O.D." But its male fittings were 1/4" inside diameter (I.D.). I couldn't understand why this 1/4" I.D. female coupler slid over the male fittings. The male fittings were 0.43" and this female couple is 0.455". After spending way too much time searching on the Internet I put on my mask and went to Home Depot. The plumbing aisle employee told me that the water hammer arrestor had a compression fitting. I went home and found a YouTube video explaining how to connect compression fittings. Twenty minutes later I'd installed my water hammer arrestor, with no extra parts. So I never used this brass coupler but it looks nice. :-) My pipe is 0.25" inside diameter and the outside diameter of the male threads are 0.43". This coupling has an inside diameter of the female threads of 0.44". It slides right over my pipe without engaging. Apparently there are different plumbing "standards" where "1/4-inch" means different sizes. The specs should say what the diameter of the threads are and what pipe it threads onto.

Needed For A Propane Quick Connection
I purchased a propane quick connect hose, and then discovered I could not connect to a LPG generator from a 5th Wheel quick connect outlet. This double female coupling allowed me to make the connection. I removed the safety quick connect valve, installed the coupling, and attached a 1/4 inch male quick connection, which I inserted into the generator safety coupling valve. Difficult to find on Amazon, and local hardware stores were clueless on LP quick connections.

Great products! You will not be disappointed.
I had to make an extension pipe for a propane manifold. This coupler saved the day! The hex nut fittings they make are 2nd to none. I have been using Anderson Metals products for quite awhile now. I have never had one fail! I recommend these to anyone that has a plumbing job.

1/4" pipe coupling
The 1/4" is the inside hole diameter. The outside diameter is about 3/8". The threads on one end got a little smashed and threading the pipe on it was a challenge but I got it to fit since brass is soft enough to work with so long as you don't cross thread it.

this is not for shower
i bought this one but this is not for shower (its hard to find female to female pipe ends) inside theres no stopper for the rubber. inside is a straight hole. i still try to put 2 round rubbers inside. and put lots of teflon tape on the male pipe. its ok but theres leak but not too much.

Works for Air Compressor, Air Hose Adapter, Water Separator / filter Connections
I'm using this to connect my air compressor with my air separator or hose adapter and it works very well. Material is good, not flimsy. Also air tight, no leakage for me and I'm not using Teflon tape.

Thin walled.
I used it as a connection between air hoses. The thickness of the wall is a bit thin. One I had before split after a year.

It’s a brass pipe…
It is what it is. A brass pipe coupler. It does the job it was made to do.
