CURT class 3, or standard-duty, ball mounts are a step up from classes 1 and 2. They feature a 2" x 2" shank and have a higher weight capacity for towing heavy-duty trailers, including utility trailers, boat trailers, campers, single-horse livestock trailers and most recreational vehicle trailers. With class 3 trailer hitches being the most common type of trailer hitch for pickup trucks and SUVs, the class 3 ball mount, by association, is an excellent complement to this trailer hitch and these larger vehicles (NOTE: Never exceed the lowest weight capacity of any towing component; i.e. the vehicle, hitch, trailer, etc). This particular class 3 ball mount can be used in the drop position to provide a drop of 8", a gross trailer weight capacity of 5,000 lbs. and a tongue weight capacity of 500 lbs. It can also be flipped to provide a rise of 6", a gross trailer weight capacity of 3,500 lbs. and a tongue weight capacity of 350 lbs. It features a length of 11-1/2". Class 3 ball mounts are CNC-formed and robotically welded to ensure unwavering precision and dependable strength in each and every unit. We mechanically descale each one to provide a smooth surface for a long-lasting finish. This class 3 ball mount comes with a durable gloss black powder coat finish to protect against corrosion, scratches, UV damage and more to give it the thick skin it needs to face the road ahead.

Rise: 6 in. EASY TO INSTALL. To install this class 3 hitch ball mount on your vehicle, simply insert the shank into your vehicle's 2-inch hitch receiver. The rounded shank makes installation easy. Then, secure the shank in place with a hitch pin (sold separately). CORROSION-RESISTANT. For long-lasting use, this ball hitch is protected with a durable black powder coat finish, easily resisting damage from rain, dirt, snow, road salt and other corrosive threats. READY TO TOW. Hitching up your trailer is easy with this 2-inch ball mount. It features a 1-inch hole to accept a trailer hitch ball with a 1-inch diameter shank (trailer ball sold separately). VERSATILE USE. This trailer hitch ball mount comes with a 2-inch x 2-inch shank to fit virtually any industry-standard 2-inch receiver. The ball mount also has a 8-inch drop and 6-inch rise to promote level towing. DEPENDABLE STRENGTH. This ball hitch is constructed from high-strength steel and is rated to tow up to 5,000 pounds gross trailer weight and 500 pounds tongue weight in the drop position (rise position: 3,500 lbs. GTW, 350 lbs. TW).

Using for Antenna Mount
Had to shim the hole for antenna bolt but works great. Sturdy with optional anti rattle clamp.

Solid
Solid hitch. Drop was just what I needed for hooking up my 1962 Airstream to a Subaru Accent. The height of the Subaru made the trailer pitch up. The 8" drop was just right. It is a bit longer than my old straight hitch so I needed to extend the safety chain. Definitely recommend it.

Worked on My 2005 Sienna
Used on my 2005 Sienna with a Curt receiver. Top inside of my receiver was 10" above ground and I wanted the 6" rise to get up toward 17" total. There are no standards, but my goal was to use Home Depot trailers (and maybe U-Haul 4x8 Box trailer) and when I stopped at store I measured the trailers at about 17-18". Used with Curt 40004 ball and with the Curt 45007 sleeve as there are no indents or tabs on this mount to keep ball from rotating as it is tightened. The Curt 45007 tongue sleeve worked perfect (albeit pricy) and was able to install and remove balls with one wrench. There has been some reviews that expected Curt products to be made in USA. I can confirm that all the Curt products I bought: the 45090 mount, 40002/40004 ball, the 23590 anti-rattle kit, the 45007 sleeve, and the 20001 wrench are made overseas (mostly China). Black powder coat is nice, but is is chipped/scratched/damaged in many places as these mounts are not individually boxed. I fully expect it to start rusting immediately once exposed to elements. On the other hand, I don't leave it attached, but keep it in a hitch tote bag in the trunk. With 2" ball mounted I was just able to squeeze into the Classic Accessories 74877 Hitch Tote, but most definitely pushing the tote over the recommended limit. All that said, I was prepping for a future tow and I haven't confirmed that my choice of 6" rise is correct for the 2005 Sienna application.

Heavy steel
It is a heavy hitch that does a great job at hitching things.

Looks great, Works great
Powdercoated finish looks great. A little damaged in shipping but that’s to be expected with something this heavy. Has held up great so far

Perfect for my Highlander
CURT quality. Rock solid. Heavy (I usually hang my car and boat accessories but this just has to sit on my workbench when not in use. Not a problem). And, most importantly, it is the perfect fit (inverted as a rise) for my 2013 Highlander to connect my boat trailer. Add to that an equally solid hitch pin/cotter pin combo (Curt 21510 available here on Amazon) with rubberized coatings on the ends of each for grip and I'm a happy traveler. Highly recommend. Note: I had to try a couple to find the right rise because simple measurement isn't exact, since the car also sinks when you add the weight to it (and Highlanders have REALLY soft suspensions. Its SUV height/center of gravity on a Camry platform. I'm talking windshield wipers move the car when sitting still soft.) It may seem obvious but if you're a newbie to trailering like I was, be sure to test with your max load on the trailer to see how both car and trailer sit. Hope this helps.

Yep... it' a hitch
Seemed like a decent enough hitch at a decent price. For some reason though there was quite a few notches in one side (lf) of the long steel bar that the ball bolts too. Looked like someone hit it a half dozen time with an ax, cold chisel, or other sharp object. Had to use a file to take the sharp edges off to prevent cutting hands or fingers when handling. So much for the anti-corrosive coating. LOL The hole for the ball was a bit off centre too. Other than those concerns, and the need to get new longer safety chains for my trailer, with the new 8 drop, tows fine and the trailer rides level.

Fits my Dodge Caravan with slight modification.
The tube on this could be an inch longer. It rubs against my bumper. So I took an angle grinder and removed a small countoured bite out of the triangular reinforcing plate. Now it fits my 2015 Caravan nicely and does not contact the bodywork.
