It is painted not clear
The white part is paint not clear so if it's dark and the lights are on it doesn't light up because there's nothing for the light to go through it's a fluke the factory one broke so next time I'm at a junk yard I'm going to grab a new factory one. If the light doesn't matter to you it does fit vary well and look factory other wise

Perfect fit! If you have trouble installing read below the review
These knobs look and fit just like the OEM knobs. I ordered this set to replace one broken knob on my 1997 Ram truck and when they arrived decided that I might as well replace them all because at 23 years old it was likely one or both of the originals were likely to break soon too. Two knobs went on perfectly. The third, the one I NEEDED to replace did not. On comparing the old and new knobs I realized there is a thin metal sheath within the plastic on both the old and the new knobs. This sheath was missing on the broken knob... it turns out it was still on the shaft the knob was supposed to slide onto. Once I realized this and removed it, the third knob went right on with no problem. I read several reviews ahead of time, some claiming these knobs fit perfectly others claiming they don't. I suspect those that didn't fit, may have had the same problem I did with the metal sheath so check that before sending them back.

110% survived Canadian Winter
Seemed to fit well and they feel slightly wider ( and better) than the stock ones. One of mine broke of on my 97 Ram truck when it was -35C outside. I'll go try these next time it gets cold to see if they hold up but so far they are 100% Update-They survived the winter even at -40C knobs all work great.,
