perfect for confined space use

cutting of exhaust manifold bolts with damaged heads in order to weld nuts on remainder of bolts for removal with engine still in truck.

Doesn’t have right accessories

I bought this from proxxon with the idea of making an extension and to attach a blade on it so I can go for really small corners and didn’t work You have to buy an another machine or grinder for that

Sent it back

I really wanted to love it…but…This is essentially a jewelers/model builders tool for very light use. Accessories are highly overpriced and a bit rare, with short life. An overall nice package tool with fatal flaws, one of which is motor issues. I opted for a Makita die grinder which I am very happy with for only $100. It is a bit more bulky, but a robust and versatile tool.

A Wimpy Tool

I was trying to find a tool primarily for cutting small radii in thin mild steel sheet, and for finishing the edges. Pros: 1) variable speed, so this tool could be used for wood finishing in small spaces, 2) wheel is at a right angle to the handle, so it's very easy on the wrist, 3) it has a 2" wheel size which allow for tight work. Cons: 1) the 2" wheel size should cut small circles, but it really struggles, 2) when running at highest rpm, the housing gets VERY hot and is difficult to hold, 3) the 2" wheels quickly wear down, requiring changes, 4) the hex screw attachment makes the wheel changes a bit difficult, and the little screw/plate doesn't secure the wheel terribly well when cutting steel. So...this guy falls short of what I needed it to do, so I didn't find that it has much value purpose.

Just what I needed for Goat Hooves

This is perfect for making my Goats Hooves finished after trims!! I had been looking at an item that was twice a much $$ that was solely for my purpose and I tried out a Friends and it was soo heavy! I am so glad I made this purchase, this is light weight and with the Sand paper attachment it’s a breeze to get my Hooves done.

Good product with a few important flaws

The Proxxon Longneck Angle Grinder is a good product, well made, nicely balanced and easy to use, especially for grinding and sanding intricate bronze sculpture. The machine fills a niche in my shop, in applications where my 4.5" angle grinders are too big and the Dremel is too small and underpowered. I don't like the position of the controls, on the top of the tool. I often hit the power button by mistake and turn the tool off in the middle of an operation. I also nudge the speed control without meaning to. The controls would be better placed on the bottom of the grinder or more deeply recessed. In fact, I think the Proxxon might cost less if the variable speed feature were dispensed with entirely. The speed range is very limited, and the top speed is the only setting most would use. I would have liked a few more accessories to be included; and additional accessories (flap discs, sanding discs, backing pad) are way too expensive. It's a nice tool, despite my concerns, and I think it would be a good addition to many shops, especially if you don't use pneumatic tools.

a great little tool but be aware

It is a great tool for those who needs access to smaller spot or simply are doing a small project. Its very lightweight offers comfortable use, which is very pleasant. Everything is top notch except for one thing. I bought this thinking I could carving for extended periods of times (1-2 hours) but I was wrong. The tool will overheat within 10-20 minutes or chainsaw carving, and need a 10-20 minutes rest in between each uses. I bought a second one so I could do my job but even though they overheat so fast after 2-3 rounds. I understand this now as it is a small motor in there, but what was really unpleasant with this purchase is NOWHERE it is mentioned how limited the carving time is. Even in the official manual, official website and dealers. This really is disapointing for me as this is what I needed it for. I am happy I added this to my shop, it has proven useful for many other tasks.

Broke in two months.

Busted within two months of use. Can't return. Followed instructions in their entirety as I know how important not overworking a tool is - still busted. Useless tool. Do not buy.

puff of smoke and it's now a nice green paper weight

Lasted less than an hour of total use. I used it three times and the there was a flash, puff of smoke and it's now a nice green paper weight. Low power, sounds like it's got a loose bearing and overheats with little use.
