Very nice amplifier
Hope it lasts longer than the last one did in my boat

Plenty of power but not 1000 watts
I bought this 1000 watt amp to install in a Cooler Boombox that I built. Along with the amp I also purchased four 6½" 400 watt mids and one 12" 600 watt subwoofer, all Pyle Hydra Marine. Also I purchased a Bluetooth audio receiver with RCA jacks. This was installed in an Igloo All Terrain Marine cooler that has air filled rubber tires with high clearance for the rocky gravel bars along the river. I ran all four the mids off of one side of the the amp and bridged the sub off the other side. Powering all this is a 12volt 101 amp hour deep cycle marine battery that has powered the unit for eight hours without ever going dead. There is no way this is a true 1000 watt amp and I knew that when I bought it. But it does deliver plenty of power to make the 12 hit very hard and the mids rock. I did have to install weather stripping around the lid and heavier metal latches on the cooler to reduce the vibrating and rattles the sub caused. The combination of amp, speakers, battery and cooler size has resulted in one of the best mobile systems I have ever heard. It is impossible to take it anywhere without people stopping me to see it. While floating the awesome Meramec River in Missouri, the box caries up and down stream like you wouldn't believe. The unit also has its own boat that I keep pushed back approximately 15 feet behind me. I use an iPod in a waterproof case around my neck that is bluetoothed to the unit. It is deffinatly the coolest thing on the river or at camp.

Based upon all the glowing reviews, I purchased this Pyle PLMRA420 1000 watt Hydra Elite Series amplifier. I knew Pyle had a poor reputation, and I knew it wasn't actually going to put out 1000 watts, but I was hoping I may get around 75 watts per channel for my 4 6.5" speakers. I figured at around $100, it was worth the gamble. The house won. lol Pros: 1. It's a good looking amp. 2. It has nice connectors. 3. Based on the size (and low actual power), it probably stays cool no matter how "hard" you push it. 4. The "remote" wire works well and turned on the amp when the head unit comes on. Cons: 1. I do not have the means to properly test how many watts this thing pushed to my speakers, but my guess would be around 25 useable watts. I have a Kenwood head unit, and when I disconnected the speakers from the Pyle and connected them directly to the head unit, the speakers were louder and more crisp. Yes, I did all the adjustments, turned up the gains, etc. I have an 8/2 wire ran directly to the battery. That's it, no other cons. Unfortunately, I was completely rebuilding my pontoon boat from the ground up, so this amp sat in a closet for months, so I couldn't return it. I'm not sure what these other people were smoking to give it so many glowing reviews. I did a youtube search showing actual power testing on Pyle Hydra Elite amps (couldn't find one for this specific model), but I was dumb enough not to do this BEFORE ordering this amp. One test on their 400 watt amp showed it delivered under 20 watts of usable power. LOL Bottom line, if you want a really good looking amp with great connections at a very low price that produces hardly any power, this amp is perfect for you. So, if you have a head unit without any amp whatsoever, and your dog, who is very adverse to loud sounds, rides on your boat with you, this would be the PERFECT amp.

Great amp as long as you set it up right
Been using it for a month working it hard on a 8 speaker system. I see complaints about the amp blowing up. If you do not know how to match impedance (ohms) keeping it at 2-4 or 8 ohms (depending on configuration) you will blow up any amp no matter what the quality. You cant be over 8 or below 4 in no bridged mode and between 4 and 2 for bridged mode. I say the folks that blew their amps up did not follow the proper wiring of the speakers to maintain the proper load (ohms). I am running (4) 8 ohm speakers on the front two channels. I wired them in parallel bringing the load to 4 ohms on each channel (bridged mode). I my rear two channels I have 2 dual coil sub woofers the coils are wired in series bringing the subs to 4 ohms each for the two rear sub channels I am using in the back. Properly adjusted the cross over so my sub gets no highs and my fronts get no lows for great sound. Adjust signal to noise ration by turning the amp gains to zero go to your head unit and max volume out. Bring gain up until you hear distortion and back it down a little. If you do this you will not blow a speaker. A blown speak will blow an amp because it can create a dead short. Follow these instructions and you will love it.

Pyle amp and speakers
Excellent! Bought these with matching 200+ amp 6x9’s and 6’' speakers. Had a friend dial in the voltage and man... unreal as to how loud and how clear this system is. I have them in my Thompson boat and its just awesome to be able to play this system while chilling in the water. I generally only turn it up to about 3/4 while out of the boat. Only about 1/2 way while in and cruising. Way too loud. If you want an extremely good system on the cheap... stick with the above!

Pretty good, burned out display light.
Installed this on our 20’ bow rider. Replaced the head unit with a Pyle head unit. Used the Pyle wiring kit for 1000W. Tuned gains using multimeter. Satisfied with results. We were complaining about not hearing music with the radio all the way up at speed on the boat. Haven’t taken it out yet but we can already notice a difference. Unfortunately one of the lights on the display of the amp is burned out upon arrival. Otherwise we like it.

Not built to last. Would not recommend
Purchased this unit for my boat in June 2020. Worked great for the season, seemed ok for the start of 2021 but on several occasions it would accept or process the input signal - no output. Thought it might have been a loose wire but went to use it this year and it powers up but no output. Decided to remove it and bench test it with several different input devices, no luck. I opened up the lid and discovered the circuit board was covered in tiny rust spots on both sides of the board. This unit was mounted under the dash with no access to the elements. So much for Marine grade. Buyer beware, it’s not built to last.

Nice looking but something is loose on the inside of it !
Looks like a great amp but when I tilt it I can hear a screw loose inside of it. I have to take to bottom off and see if it comes off

Great amp!
The media could not be loaded. Great amp. Used it to power two 6 1/2” speakers and a 10” sub in my boat. Love the features of this amp. Can’t beat it for the price.
