Great Do-It-Yourself Camera System
This is by far the easiest security camera system I've ever used. I am thinking of replacing a different system at my house with this one after installing this at my office. You install your cables inside the attic, run them out to the eaves and install cameras. Connections are simple and system could be installed in less than three hours. Works great with any television capable of plugging an HDMI cable into it, to view cameras. The app works great on my phone and alerts me when there is movement when I am not at the office. I wish I had purchased two additional cameras for more coverage, but the four-camera system works great if you only need to cover four views. Would recommend to anyone looking for a simple security system they can install themselves!

Overall good, but not up to modern expectations
As far as a security system goes this is a very good system. The camera quality is very good, obviously if you want the best image possible you will need to invest in the 4K version, however for personal use this is more than adequate. Setup is something that I recommend you have planned out beforehand, with this being a wired system it can be a little difficult to ensure you have a clean route from the camera to the dvr box. Now for the bad, the reason I give this 3 stars. The user interface for connecting to the camera system through the app is nearly impossible to get to work. I have tried everything the Swann website recommends and it still does not work. For some reason Swann has about 15 different apps, one for each of their different products it seems like, and if you're like me and the one that is listed with the product you purchased doesn't work you try them all only to see, some try to connect, or even pick up the dvr on the network but fail to complete the connection. There are no instructions for a work around for this part, or the proper setup of the router or how to properly connect the app. You also cannot manually connect the dvr to your Dropbox on the device you have to do it through the app, which means, If you have issues such as mine you cannot back up the recordings on your device. This would all be understandable as issues with my own connection, but after researching i see this is a common problem with the Swann apps, they have low ratings and are overall not updated regularly or even made sure to work properly. This device is able to send emails to me, showing it is connected to the internet, but I am unable to connect beyond that. If remote monitoring is an important factor for your home security I recommend trying a different brand or product.

Great cameras and DVR
Setup wasn't too difficult and now we have eyes in the front and back of our home 24/7! We love it. Super easy to use. No monthly data storage fees necessary. You can even add up to 4 more cameras if you want. Note: the DVR doesn't have Bluetooth so you will have to hook it up to a TV or computer near your router or you will have to run a cable to it. The app gives you access to the cameras when you are away. Kit also comes with stickers to let people know you have surveillance going. Very pleased with this purchase!

Great equipment, bad support
I am very happy with the overall performance and value of this security system. However, after just 3 months I have a failure on one camera (of 4-see pic) where a display comes up when switching to night and clears when switching to day. This happens every couple or few days. I am going through tech support and they basically suck. It is unquestionably the camera but they are running me through a script that is costing me and them more time and money than the camera is worth.

Great picture, install was as expected, remote access is great and no monthly subscription.
I have rated this as easy to install as if you are not OCD about visible wires etc this is a very easy kit to install. If like me you want to hide all wires and place this at 4 points under the eaves of a 2 storey house then this will take some amount of heartache! I spent a good amount of time planning my install. The most important thing is where to put your DVR box. Once you know that you can decide on the distance from the box to each camera and make sure you have enough wire from dvr to the camera. You can also ensure that you can get an ethernet cable to the box(if you want remote access from a phone/pc). You will need some DIY expertise to run wires cleanly and safely if routing through an attic space/eaves etc. I added a wired ethernet connection from the ground floor to the first floor of my house but a powerline adaptor could be used for this. You will need some technical expertise to open ports and forward external connections to your DVR IP address on your internet router if you want remote access. Generic information on doing this is available in the manual and online, but it is vital for access remotely. Although quite a bit of expertise is needed to install this and get it operating as you require, it is a fantastic piece of kit and the required work was expected. In terms of picture quality it is exactly as expected and required. The alarm notifications for certain areas of each camera picture work brilliantly, as does the motion and PIR detection. One of my favourite things about this install is the fact that there is no third party involved in connection to your DVR remotely. As long as its powered on and online, you are connecting directly to this and not to a website that then connects to your dvr. Even if the support for this model is discontinued, the previous apps will always give you access to the dvr remotely. This is fantastic when compared to subscription based services that could change or discontinue products and deny access to old equipment.

Upgraded from a 4 channel to this
We knew what to expect from this product, having upgraded from the Swann 4 channel. Everything works just fine. Only complaint (I knew this going in) is that the motion detection is easily set off by even bugs flying by, yet not sensitive enough to activate when a car is coming up our driveway till it is already parked. There is also limited function to make changes to your settings when you are away from the main display. It definitely meets our needs or I would not have bought this second one.

Good system, but has connection errors
Definitely need a pro to install! We bought it because we love that it has an app and ability to check out the surroundings when we're away on trips. However, we tested it out for about a week before deciding to install it around our house and we ended up returning it instead. It's a good system, but it drops signal a lot.

Not an 8ch DVR
Right out of the box, disappointment. Ad clearly states 8ch DVR. However only a 4ch DVR is shipped. Aside from that, initial quality seems good. And bonus if you live in the states, apperently some credit for installation is in box. That said, if you have extra cams you were planning to use with the set of 4 this comes with, like me... this item won't be adequate.

it all worked as it should all excepted 2 camera that don't work and when they do the color is a dark purple or black day and night i am kind of hoping that amazon sees this comment and tries to get me 2 new cameras it was to late to return it buy the time i installed it other wise i would have gave it 5 star
