A CURT front trailer hitch allows you to use the front end of your vehicle for a variety of towing applications. They can be used for mounting a winch, a snow plow, a number of towing accessories and can even be used for some trailering applications. When space is limited, a front trailer hitch is commonly used to hold a cargo carrier, freeing up space inside the vehicle for extra cargo and making the rear mount receiver available to pull a trailer. At the boat ramp, your boat trailer can be hitched up to the front receiver hitch, giving you better control over the trailer as you launch. Some of the other accessories that can be used with a front tow hitch are the CURT winch mount, step pad, license plate holder, spare tire mount, skid shield and tow hooks. All CURT front trailer hitches provide a useful receiver tube to accept a 2" x 2" shank, and they are commonly used on trucks, vans and SUVs. This front trailer hitch is rated for 3,500 lbs. GTW and 350 lbs. TW. It also has a straight-line pull rating of 9,000 lbs. It is designed to be a custom trailer hitch for certain years of the Jeep Wrangler JK (to verify your vehicle compatibility, see application info). It comes with all necessary hardware for a complete installation and is backed by a limited lifetime warranty.

Definitely 45 minutes!
One of the ads for this indicated it was a 45 minute install. NOT! I've been doing mechanical type work on automobiles and aircraft for most of my life... about 45 years now. This took me like two hours. This particular part was for my Jeep Wrangler JK. There are some hidden holes you have to use "fish spring" wire to get the bolts through the hole. It is not easy and can be very time consuming. Once installed, it is SOLID!

Went into my 2015 Sahara with very minor difficulty.
The idea of having a front hitch on the Jeep is great. Allows for extra carry space with a hitch attachment for a vehicle that is highly capable but short on space. The installation process itself is pretty straightforward, but it is difficult. It took me three days but that was doing the process bit by bit once I got home from work. If I had to estimate, I would say six hours overall, so definitely a weekend project. The most difficult part was simply getting the handle nuts to align. That by itself took me maybe three hours. Try as I might I just could not get it going. But once it finally caught, it was easy to tighten down everything. I did not remove my bumper and I did not remove the brake booster pump. Luckily I have long slender fingers and was able to reach around it. Also, I did my installation by lifting the front onto ramps. Made it a lot simpler to literally get under the Jeep. That could be the reason it may have taken me six hours though.... I did have to drill out the hole in the drivers side of the bumper. Easy to do with a 1/2 drill bit and even did it with a 12v dewalt drill by just going at it slowly. The hitch is on and it’s sturdy. Seems like it’s going to be difficult to get off if ever needed. For instance if you’re going with an aftermarket bumper later. But I enjoy the stock look of the Jeep and the versatility of the front hitch is more important than aesthetics. There is another front hitch mount that curt makes. I mistakenly ordered that one first and then returned it as I didn’t realize it was specifically for the Rubicon with a different front bumper. It also uses different holes and mounts lower than this model. So something to keep in mind.

Review applies to 2015 JKU..
Have a 2015 JKU. First the hitch is nice, nice paint job, heavy duty for the price I guess you cant beat it. Ok now to the bad. First, the instructions are horrible do not go by the instructions. except the part that says torque the bolts to 110Ftlbs. Follow that part, The youtube video on the installation from Curt doesnt tell you that they are NOT using a 2015 JKU and therefore you will have to drill out the bottom hole on the drivers side. It also doesnt tell you that the brake booster is in the way, but you can work around it. If you look into other videos they recommend removing it. Problem is that there are 2 bolts that have to be removed and they are only accessible from the top, so you also have to remove the Grille. ( not a huge deal but yeah time consuming.) So to install you have to remove the airdamn ( I didnt have mine in cause I had an aftermarket bumper and winch already installed which actually makes it easier. I also didnt remove the brake booster, I was able to get a ratchet with an extension and the 19mm socket in to tighten it. you need at least an 8" extension and it is pretty difficult but take your time. The lower hole on the driver's side needs to be drilled larger. I was able to do this with a 1/2" step up drill bit and it was quite easy, but be careful not to damage the brake booster pump. Once you do that, you can use the fish wire to put the bolts through each hole, after that its a breeze. Overall I like it, Im not towing anything from the front, only bought it to carry a basket which will hold some fishing poles and a cooler at most. NOTE- If you're not good with tools and/or do not have tools, dont try this. Better off getting a mechanic to install it. If this is the case you shouldnt own a JK anyway.. lolol good luck

It's a hitch
2017 jk wrangler unlimited sport. I would have given 5 stars except Curt still hasn't fixed the bold misalignment problem for the drivers side bolt holes. Also, the directions are piss poor so if you don't have some decent amount of ingenuity or mechanical background this may take you more than the one hour it took me. Removing the grill, top bumper plate (drill center of plastic anchors (2) out and buy simple replacements from NAPA), and pump that sits behind the bumper makes things easier. Also the skid plate. Note; if you want the skid plate back on the vehicle it will require some cutting. The skid plate comes off easy with simple POP clip anchors. Same with the top section of grill. The bottom of the grill has push-clips that you release with a bit of force when pulling the grill forward. There are two bolts that mount under the bumper with bolts and anchor plates under the nuts. There are 4 bolts (2 per side driver/passenger) that mount to frame rail. The bottom bolts get the rectangular anchor washer, the top bolts get the nut with extension attached. The only real problem I had was the same as mentioned in nearly every review. The drivers side bolts do not quite line-up. I used a floor jack to force the hitch up enough to get the top bolt in driver side. No such luck with the bottom. It required a 1/2 drill bit and a little widdiling. Not very hard to do and easy to get to but still annoying.
