The Kidde Smoke & Carbon Monoxide Detector, Hardwired Interconnect, Combination Smoke & CO Alarm with Battery Backup, Voice Alerts, model KN-COPE-IC, is a pack of six photoelectric smoke detector and carbon monoxide detector combo units that operate on a 120VAC power source with a 9V battery backup. A convenient front load battery door makes it easy to install or change the battery without the need to remove the unit from the ceiling. This smoke detector also includes an electrochemical carbon monoxide detector which offers highly accurate CO sensing technology. When this carbon monoxide smoke detector combo senses danger, three loud 85dB beeps will sound and it will announce “Fire!” or “Warning: Carbon Monoxide”. When the back up battery is low, the alarm will chirp once, followed by the voice warning, "Low Battery." The Hush feature temporarily silences the fire alarm for approximately 8 minutes in case of nuisance alarms. Install a smoke alarm and carbon monoxide detector on each level of your home and inside and outside each bedroom or sleeping area. They work

Fairly easy to install. Replaced original ceiling smoke detectors that were installed when my house was first built in 1996. I didn’t realize these also had co2 monitors which I didn’t really need as I don't have gas appliances, etc. I believe these are supposed to be replaced every 10 years? So? We shall see.

Loved the Install!

I replaced six hard-wired smoke detectors with these combo smoke/carbon monoxide units. I specifically picked Kidde so that the wiring connection would be the same, thus eliminating the need to mess with the wires in the ceiling. Made things very easy. Warning: Be aware that half the alarms went through a self test once I pulled the tab on the battery. (Every test sets off every alarm in the system, and it is loud!) Suggestion for bifocal or progressive lens wearers: Grab your computer glasses; you're going to be right up top with the ceiling and the near-vision lens help prevent craning your neck. Final comment: I thought that carbon monoxide testers need to be relatively close to the floor, so I have kept the two detectors that were already installed in place. Just me.

It is not White

For those trying to match to an existing model, the color will not be the same. It says white, but its definitely not white. More of a beige color. See image for difference. The new model is on the bottom and old on top. Very frustrating as there doesn't seem to be any other option.

Value for the money

They say you need to replace your smoke/CO2 detectors every 10 years. Our old detectors were in need of changing. We purchased these because we got a better value. These are hardwired and battery backup detectors. These also talk - if there is a fire it will say fire and if there is CO2 it will say CO2. You will know what the problem is when it goes off.

Careful to check what you receive

Received a similar-looking unit that was 9V battery only, not a 120VAC wired unit with battery back up. Returned to vendor with no issues. Make sure to inspect what you receive.
