It can be programmed to use up to 25 different personal identification number (PIN) codes, and each code can be set up as a temporary or permanent security access code. Each code is face programmable with additional security features built in. This Digital Keypad can be easily installed wirelessly within 50 feet of your gate opener control box. Requires 3-AA batteries (not included). FROM THE MANUFACTURER The Digital Keypad is designed to control access to all Mighty Mule automatic gate openers. Wireless requires 3-AA batteries, sold separately. Wired applications require 16-gauge, low voltage wire (RB509), sold separately.

Better than using a momentary switch

I installed this because our neighbor was using our driveway/gate instead of turning around in their junk-filled drive. Only problem was they didn't bother to consistently close the gate that had a momentary rocker switch for gate to open/close for our visitors. Yep, dog was headed for the highway when the gate was open! This product added a little bit of security by making it more inaccessible, but can be fairly easily defeated with a jumper wire touched between the feed wires. Of course, most of the entire gate system is pretty easy to defeat without substantial hardening. Wireless installation didn't appear to be an option as there was a failure to communication with our remote (Ghost Gate Opener). When installing wired option don't forget to remove the batteries beforehand or the system will not function. Install the batteries after the system is hooked up. This remote takes 3 AA batteries although the instructions consistently say 4 batteries. Also make sure you have small flat blade screwdrivers. I had several small sizes, but had to grind one down to fit into the plastic housing for wire hookup terminals I didn't use tech support so I didn't rate it.

FOR NEWER GATE OPENERS, THE INSTRUCTIONS ARE WRONG! Instructions below...

Would be 5 Stars, except, as mentioned by another user, you need these secret instructions for newer Mighty Mule gate openers (i.e. MM371). I've MODIFIED the instructions to be a bit more clear, but this is otherwise a copy/paste from the other user: 1. On the control board, press AND HOLD the orange button labeled S3. The S3 button is the middle of the 3 orange buttons. The control board will beep to indicate it is ready to learn the keypad (and/or a remote). 2. On the keypad, enter the master code and HOLD the last digit until the control board beeps. Release the last digit. 3. WAIT 40 SECONDS: Before attempting to use the keypad, wait until the keypad beeps three times, this can take up to 40 seconds. Once the keypad beeps three times, test the keypad by entering the master code, the gate should open.

Instructions are wrong for newer gate models

I spent many days trying to figure out why the wireless keypad was not connecting to my transmitter. I have the 571W gate opener. I tried the instructions that came with it many times, changed batteries, held them closer together, farther apart, different angles, googled, researched and still couldn't find the answer. I was about to throw in the towel when I came to the reviews section to see if anyone else was having issues. The correct instructions were left in the reviews! If you have a newer model gate and are having issues with it syncing with your transmitter, go to the review on January 3, 2023 by PB. LIFESAVER and worked like a charm!

Better than the old one it replaced

I had one that mostly worked after 8 years of service and exposure to the weather. This took no time to sync to the newer gate opener and was installed in the housing of the old keypad. Key pad requires no effort to make contact and it just works.

Works great

Replaced a 15 yr old model. Key pad was worn out. This is a Factory original, works great with MM gate controller. Just not sure if the direct wiring will power the pad, would be nice if batteries were not required.

Good brand

All this "Mighty Mule" stuff is sturdy and works well. I have fitted two double gate openers now and both are working perfectly after a few years in harsh winter conditions. Installation instructions are clear, remotes hold memory without loss. I recommend this brand.
